"You frustrate me incredibly" -E.E
After bumping into the blonde boy, you continue down the hall looking for a different place to sit. Suddenly, someone crashes into you, and all you can is a girl with a big head of mousy brown hair.
"Sorry!" she squeaks, "I didn't see you there."
"It's okay," you say, offering your hand to help her up.
"I'm Hermione Granger, and this is Neville Longbottom," she says, pointing to a boy behind her.
"I'm y/n y/l/n," you stick out your hand to her again, she shakes it enthusiastically, and you give Neville a small wave.
"Neville's lost his toad, have you seen one around here?" she asks.
"Unfortunately no, I could help you look though?" you suggest.
"We'd appreciate that; come along with us," Hermione says, grabbing you by the arm and pulling you away.
You, Hermione, and Neville search the compartments, but to no avail. Eventually, you come across one with two boys sitting inside, surrounded by sweets. One of the boys appeared to be performing magic. Hermione barged in, and you and Neville followed quietly after her.
"Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one," she asks the boys.
"We've already told him we haven't seen it," the boy with red hair and freckles replies.
But Hermione doesn't acknowledge him; she's too distracted looking at his disheveled wand. Finally, she sits down in a huff and faces him. "Oh, you're doing magic? Let's see it then."
The boy looks nervously at her, and waves his wand in an attempt to perform a spell, but nothing happens.
"Are you sure that's a real spell," she asks. "I've tried a few spells for practice, and they've all worked."
She then goes on to talk about how she's a muggle-born, while you and Neville listen. Eventually, she introduces herself to the boys. "I'm Hermione Granger, and you are?"
"I'm Ron Weasley," the red-head boy mumbles, his mouth full of sweets.
"Harry Potter," the other boy with messy brown hair and glistening green eyes says.
"Nice to meet you, I'm y/n y/l/n," you smile.
You end up sitting with them for the rest of the train ride, the pair continue to converse in conversation, and Hermione sticks her nose into a thick book. Neville glumly slouches in his seat and you stare out the window, taking in the sweeping views.
You've never seen anything as enchanting as it. Orange and yellow hues paint the horizon as the sun has begun to set. Birds, which had previously been discreetly nesting in the trees, had come out to play, singing melodious tunes while soaring across the sky.
A light tap on your shoulder pulls you out of your thoughts and drives your attention away from the window. You turn around, and your eyes meet Hermione's.
"You should get changed, I expect we're arriving soon," she informs you. "Follow me, I'll help you find an empty compartment."
Getting up, you quickly bid the boys goodbye before following Hermione out.

As you hop off the train, an obnoxiously large man with a friendly smile greets you. He leads you down a steep, narrow path with thick trees. The trail soon opens up to a lake, shimmering in the starry sky, filled with many small boats.
Through the whirlwind of excited first-years, you lose Hermione in the crowd. You desperately look around for her as people behind you push you toward the boats. But by the time you reach them, you still haven't found her, so you climb into a boat filled with other people. (Pretend that it's not four to a boat)
The boats bob and loll in the lake like toys in a bath. The moon shines down on you, glistening on the water. Light waves lap against your boat while you stare in wonder at the castle ahead, light pouring from its windows, illuminating the night sky. Stars blink above you, and the crisp night air chills your bones.
You hear someone scoff next to you, and you turn to find yourself face-to-face with the little blonde boy from the train. His greyish-silver eyes glare at you, and his lips twist into a scowl. When you first see him, he reminds you of your pet ferret back at home.
"What are you doing here, this is our boat, get our," the blond boy states, two other boys behind him nodding in agreement.
"No, I think I'll stay. If you don't like it, you can leave and swim to Hogwarts," you retort. You don't like taking shit from anyone, especially not some little boy who took your compartment on the train.
The boy rolls his eyes, but remains seated.
"Yeah, that's what I thought," you say, and face toward again. You can feel his eyes burning into you, but you refuse to look at him again.

The two big doors swing open and reveal a grand room. Candles float in the air, lighting the great hall in a warm, welcoming glow. Ghosts gild across the room, talking to one another and observing the first years.
You are quickly ushered through the hall and positioned before a platform, where an old lady with a welcoming smile stands with an extremely dirty, old, and patched hat.
The old lady introduces herself as Professor McGonagall and tells you that when she calls your name, you come up to the platform, sit on the stool, and put on the wizard's hat to be sorted. Then, she begins calling names.
Hermione and Neville get sorted into Gryffindor, and you start hoping that you're also sorted into the same house.
Nerves bundle in your stomach as you watch students make their way up to her, and you wipe your sweaty hands down the front of your robes to calm yourself.
"Malfoy, Draco!" Professor McGonagall calls out. And you watch the blonde boy from the train and boat swaggers up and get sorted into Slytherin. You roll your eyes at his smirking face as he walks over to join the two boys who were with him on the train and boat.
Finally, your name gets called, and you timidly walk up and sit on the stool. You feel the hat lowering onto your head, and it's so big it practically covers your eyes.
"You are very witty, I see," a voice says in your head, "but you also are incredibly brave and full of courage. You have a desire to prove yourself, especially to your parents."
"Not Slytherin," you think, "Anything but Slytherin." You can't stand the thought of being in the same house as Draco.
"Not Slytherin, you say. But, you know, Slytherin could help you gain validation from your parents, especially with who they are," the hat says, "Oh well, you will do great in...GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouts out loud, and cheers erupt from the Gryffindor table.
As you go down to the table, you wonder how the hat knew about your parents. However, that thought quickly gets pushed aside when Harry and Ron join you at the table.
You can already tell that Hogwarts will be a great new home, and these people will be your family - and a better one than your one back home.
