"You are my most beautiful someone" -e.s
Hagrid carried Draco to the hospital wing while the rest of the Care of Magical Creatures class trail behind them, everyone a bit shook.
"They should fire him straight away!" Pansy Parkinson sobs.
"It was Malfoy's fault!" Dean Thomas snaps.
"Y/n, can you come with me?" Hagrid asks you nervously.
"Uh, sure," you say and follow him while everyone else peels away and goes off to their common rooms, everyone except for Pansy, who runs after you, Hagrid, and Draco, complaining about his arm.
You open the door for Hagrid, and he walks into the hospital wing, carefully placing Draco on a bed. Madam Pomfrey rushes over, and Hagrid timidly explains what had happened.
"Not to worry, he will be okay," she reassures Hagrid before telling him he can leave.
"Can you stay here and, um, make sure he is okay?" Hagrid pulls you to the side.
"Me? Um, sure. Of course," you say, uncertainty.
Spending more time with Draco is the last thing you want to do, but you don't want to upset Hagrid more.
You go over and sit beside Draco's bed, watching Madam Pronfrey mend his arm while he is mumbling and grumbling about how much pain he is in.
"Will you shut it?" you finally say, irritated.
"No I will not. My father will hear about this, and he will not be pleased that one of Hagrid's vicious monsters tried to kill me," Draco whined.
You roll your eyes, "It was your fault, you insulted it."
"No, it wasn't. It attacked him," Pansy wailed, gripping Mafloy's hand tightly. Draco eyed Pansy's hand, and for a second, you thought you could see a flicker of disdain in his eyes.
"Dramatic much," you mumble under your breath.
Pansy glares are you, "You should leave, mudblood. Why are you even here?"
"Hagrid told me to be here. Why are you here, you useless piece of shit?"
"Because I'm his girlfriend. And I actually care about him." She says, petting his arm admiringly.
You resist the urge to gag as you swing your legs over the side of the bed and head towards the door. Something catches your eye, and you turn to find Matteo sitting on a bed, leaning against the wall. He had a swollen eye, and his face was covered in blood. On the bed beside him was another guy, his whole face also puffy and blood splattered.
When Matteo notices you, he winks. At least, you think he does; it's hard to tell with one of his eyes is swollen. You make your way over to him.
"What happened to you?" You ask, tenderly brushing your fingers over his eye.
"Just got in a little fight," he grimaces, and you drop your hand. "Nothing to worry about," he gives you a lopsided smile.
You glance at the guy sitting next to him, but he appears to be sleeping.
"Been here for less than a week and already getting into fights," you tut.
"What can I say? Everyone here just loves me," he says.
You stare into his eyes for a moment longer before dropping your gaze. Then, desperately searching for something to look at besides his face, you notice a glass of water and a rag that Madam Pomfrey had left on a table next to the bed. Sitting down, you wet the rag and gently remove the blood from his face, trying not to hurt him.
"Just try not to mess up that pretty little face of yours too badly," you wink at him when you finish cleaning his face.
You stand up and turn towards the door. But before you can move to leave, he grabs your hand to stop you. You turn and cock your head at him questioningly. But he doesn't say anything; instead, he stands up and walks with you toward the door.
"Where are you going?" he asks you.
"I'm not sure; I was thinking about returning to the Gryffindor common room. Why? Where are you going," you ask.
"I was thinking about taking a stroll outside."
"A stroll? That doesn't seem like you," you say.
"What can I say? I'm full of surprises," he laughs. "Would you like to join me?"
"Sure," you smile at him.
The rest of the day, you walk around the Hogwarts grounds together. The only time you part ways is for dinner, but then you meet up again in the library afterward. You sit at a table together and notice that Draco is there with Crabbe and Goyle a few feet away.
"What are you doing wasting your time with low life mudblood?" Draco asks, leaning towards Matteo, looking at you repulsively.
You scoff, "I'll fuck up your arm up even more, Malfoy. How about you stop wasting my time and leave us alone."
"Shut up. I wasn't talking to you. I wouldn't waste my breath on that."
"So why are you talking to me now?" you say, waving your hand at him to try and get him to mind his business.
He stands up, and steps towards you threateningly, and Crabbe and Goyle follow his lead. You get up from your chair and cross your arms, Matteo standing up behind you. You stare Draco down for a moment longer before he gives Matteo one last look, turns around, and stomps off.
"Why do you spend time with me?" You ask Matteo softly after you both sit down again.
Matteo looks over at you, "Don't let Draco get in your head y/n," he says, leaning forward and tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear. "I hang out with you because you're nice and because you saw the thestrals too. But most importantly, because you're really pretty," he smirks.
You snort, "I'm not."
He shrugs, "Well I might have been lying a bit, you can be really mean."
You nudge him playfully, "Not that," you say quietly. "I'm not really pretty." You didn't have the thinnest body, the silkiest hair, or the prettiest face shape. You didn't have a perfect smile or the smoothest skin.
"You are," he answers, interrupting your thoughts. He gently lifts your chin so you're looking him directly in his eyes. "You are beautiful."
You blush and tilt your face downward, biting your lip to keep from grinning.
Later, he walks you to your dorm, and in bed that night, thoughts of him run through your mind nonstop.
