"Yes arsehole, I do care about you"
A young girl should not know what the sounds of terrified screams sound like. She should not know what it feels like to lie in bed awake, scared of what her parents are doing, and even more scared to go see. A young girl should not know what it's like to hide under the covers with her brother, having to cover his ears to muffle the quiet pleas of some stranger downstairs, begging for their life. A young girl should not see someone die at the age of seven, the life leaving their eyes as they meet hers with one last pleading look.

You make it to your room and firmly shut the door behind you before sinking onto the floor in a dishevelled heap. Your breath turns shaky and a tear trickles down your cheek before you can stop it. Once it escapes it's like a dam broke and a flood of uncontrollable tears start streaming down your face. You furiously swipe at your eyes but the tears keep coming without permission and trembling sobs escape from you. You hiccup slightly as you try to catch your break and wipe your nose on your robes, but the tears refuse to stop.
Suddenly there is a soft knock on the door and you hear someone whisper, "Y/n?"
You don't answer and you press a hand to your mouth to muffle your sobs and wait for them to leave, but instead of walking away, you hear the person sigh and a soft rustle of their clothing as they sit down on the opposite side of the door.
"I'm here," the voice says, "You don't have to talk to me, but I'm here."
You sniffle and wipe your nose with the sleeve of your robe as tears continue to streak down your face, but the person never leaves. You cry until you've cried yourself silly and have no more tears left, but the presence of them still remains and they leave your eyes puffy and your nose red. They leave you staring off into space not feeling, not thinking, just absentmindedly watching the wind blow through your open window and rustle your red curtains. You don't even fully understand why you were crying but tears just came and there was no stopping them.
What the heck, you think to yourself, what is wrong with you? The thing was, your conversation with Mattheo didn't even upset you that much, it just confused the hell out of you. It made you question everything about yourself, like a freaking mid-life crisis at the ripe age of fourteen.
You sit on the ground for a while, your back pressed against the door, having no motivation to get up. You didn't realise how much crying could tire out a person. Slowly, you loosen yourself from the ball you've curled into and stretch out your stiff legs in front of you. You close your eyes and take deep breaths through your nose, feeling your chest expand and contract. Breath by breath, your heart rate slows and the sound of it drumming in your head gradually fades away.
You stay slumped against the door as you watch the sun lazily move along the sky. But eventually the light flicks through your window at the perfect angle to shine right into your eye
"Ow!" You flinch and turn your head away from the window and squeeze your eyes, rubbing them with your hands.
You decide now is probably a good time to get up and take one last shaky breath, feeling the air fill your lungs, before pushing off the door and hoisting yourself up. You slowly stretch out your stiff body and roll your shoulders back. You turn and place a hand on the door, pausing a moment before you open it to close your eyes and collect your thoughts. You open them again when your mind quiets down and pull the door open, but before you can make your way out, a body falls back against your legs causing you to stumble backwards.
"Shit!" the person yelps. You look down and find Draco slumped against you, staring up at you.
You scrunch your eyebrows in confusion, "What are you doing here?"
