Torus stared out into the space ahead of the Defiant, distant stars seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye, and new ones seemed to appear out of nowhere. The whole scene was incredible, but the crew had no time to marvel at it.
The distress signal from Starbase 6 had everyone on edge. A Priority One signal was a Disaster Cell, often meaning that something terrible happened to whichever Starbase or Starship sent the signal. This time, it meant that Starbase 6 was under attack.
Torus sat down in the Command chair, and he pressed the intercom button on the right side armrest.
Torus: "this is the Commodore speaking. In our next action, we can risk neither miscalculation nor error by anyone abord."
Blue pressed some buttons on the 'Command Intelligence Visual Display Complex Control Panel', and a holographic image appeared on the view screen. It was a gilded map of space, and several space stations were highlighted on the map.

Torus: "listen carefully. Science Officer."
Blue: "referring to the map on your screens, you will note the highlighted stations and the outposts in this region of space. These stations are all vitally important to the integrity and economy of the United Federation of Planets. Commodore."
Torus: "what you do not know and must be told is that my command orders are precise and inviolable. If these stations were attacked by the Milky Way Empire, then we will take any and all measures to stop the intruder. Commodore out."
Torus cut the intercom, and he looked around the bridge. Torus had plenty experience in combat, and he had an immense knowledge of naval tactics and battle strategies. He had used some Old Earth Navel strategies in some of his previous battles, so he was ready for battle.
Veteran: "this attack on Starbase 6 was unprovoked, and we must make the enemy answer for this."
Torus: "Cadet, we have procedures to follow, even in this situation. We must be careful not to give the Milky Way Empire a way to justify such an attack."
Veteran: "Starbase 6 is a civilian station, and firing on civilians is against the rules of warfare, so there is no justifying their attack. What could justify an attack on Starbase 6 by the Milky Way Empire?"
Torus: "you might be surprised. There's some information that most Officers aren't permitted to tell, but since me and Lieutenant Seth have the high enough clearance, we can dispense such information."
The Commodore stood up from the command chair, and he made his way to the turbolift door. He turned back to the bridge, and ordered for all selected officers to meet him in the conference room.
