There is something I have been noticing about teenagers on the internet as of late. that being they are obsessed with being morally pure.
And like. Ok. I get it. No one wants to be the bad guy, and no one wants to be friends with bad people. But this has developed so far that its become more of a dog-eat-dog world, where you can't trust your friends and you can't give anyone the benefit of the doubt because then you're also the bad guy.
On twitter it mostly forms in like, absolute worst-faith arguments. Someone will say something worded slightly wrong, maybe, and suddenly someone who doesn't like them is qrt'ing them calling them a bigot. Like. Ok, I get it, when its deserved but I've also seen it so many times when its just not....Like when people get mad about fandom disagreements so then nex thing you know someone says "you people are so weird" (referring to someone and their followers) and the other person will purposely take the 'you people' as an attack on whatever minority group they fall into.
Like yall. it is not that deep. you do not need moral justification to argue about your blorbos I promissseeee.
+ also the reactive attack being so much worse than the actual 'crime.' Was once in a fmab twitter gc, someone popular on fmatwt turned out to be a royed shipper. I told the gc that being like 'damn that's rough I liked their edits.' it turned into the gc literally attacking the person, wishing death on their family, and telling strangers that persons trauma without permission. I felt so bad to the point I was nauseous and left the gc and apologized to the person lol. then gave them a blocklist.
Same thing when someone (a minor) says something fucked up and then gets like called out and they hide behind being a minor....like dawg. you are reaping what you sow.
I remember seeing a 17 yr old qrt someone else with a big following telling them to kill themself. Person screenshotted it and posted it being like wtf. 17 year old immediately hid behind the "I'm a minor!!! You're 21 and attacking a minor!!! Freak!!!!" thing which is so so funny because. You're SEVENTEEN....a year off from being an adult. And also like the person you are talking about was of age to possibly have been in HIGHSCHOOL with you. You are not that different. I promise.
Tiktok is worse because there's usually a name and face attached. But there people will bully people for being cringe, then realize they're being bullies and KNOW bullying is wrong. So they try and dig up bullshit to justify their dogpiling and make it morally sound.
Like the lgbt tiktokker who was loud and people thought was annoying and people started making up grooming allegations against him "because he makes content for kids" (he doesn't) and "is best friends with a high schooler at 24" (the person in question was his cousin).
Another time Ive seen it is people bullying a literal child for their art style and trying to justify it by saying they're a dreamsmp stan. like dawg. who are you.
