"Shit.." Marcus just stares at the photos.
"Exactly!" I reply, feeling pumped.
"But why tonight? We have school tomorrow. Couldn't this have waited until, oh. I don't know. The weekend!?"
"My dad is out of jail and came to have dinner with his "family". I didn't want to see him.."
"I don't know why you would. He's a horrible man with no remorse for anything. They should've kept him in jail." Marcus says, still starring at the blurry polaroids.
"Wait, woah woah woah. What's that..?" Marcus points at a very blurry photo.
"cshh cshh Umm. Stop 472. Everyone with the number 472 please get off the train. cshh cshh"
"
That's us!" I say, pulling Marcus up and out of the train.
"Holy shit... This place is very unsettling." Marcus says. He has a look of worry on his face.
"Don't worry. I know the ropes of this place. I'll get us in and out. I got a note on my bed from someone saying "Adriana. Only you can complete this mission. But to do so you will need a companion by your side. You need to find the flower kingdom. I cannot say anymore. But you'll know what to do. I will help through your journey as a little voice in your head. If you need help. Just say Scarebear three times."
"That's creepy.." Marcus seems occupied but he also seems to be listening
"Hurry! We have to go!" I say. Rushing Marcus. We start running down a dark tunnel.
"Do you even know where we are going?" Marcus laughs.
"Yup" I reply.
"This is fun" Marcus laughs.
We got to the mushroom forest before we ran out of time.
"Shit! No! Fuck!" I yell at the train station we got dropped off at.
"Hey, it's okay. There's always tomorrow. Right?" Marcus hugs me, trying to calm me down.
"Yeah.. You're right.. We can do this." I look up at Marcus.
"You have to stay with me!" I say to him.
"Would your mum let me?" He asks, worried.
"Lets see. We met when I was 7, you were 8. I'm 14 now. You're 15. So that's... one, two, three, four, five, six, sev- Seven years we've known each other. I think she'll be fine with it."
"Fair enough." He replies.
We get to my house and when we get inside I realize my dad is still here. He see's me when I walk in.
"Oh my god. My little baby girl is all grown up!" He says, opening his arms for a hug.
"Fuck off." I grab Marcus' arm and pull him to my room with me.
"You stay in here. I need to talk to my mum." I walk out to the kitchen.
"Mum. Why." I ask.
"Why what sweetie?" She asks me.
"You don't remember what he did to you? To us!?" I yell, holding back tears.
"Oh sweetie. I don't know what you're talking about." She says, calmly. But I can tell she's holding back tears.
"Don't play dumb." I say. Tears slowly trickling down my face to the floor.
"I don't know what you're talking about sweet-"
I throw several paintings and pictures off the walls revealing the holes in the walls.
"THIS! DON'T YOU REMEMBER?!"
"Uhm..-"
"You can't tell me you don't remember all the abuse?! The anger?! The REASON HE WAS IN JAIL?!"
"You're overreacting, darling... Please.. Calm down.." Dad says in the calmest tone.
"NO! I'm not going to CALM DOWN! THIS ISN'T RIGHT!"
"That's it.." Dad whispers.
"I need to talk to you.." Dad drags me into the other room. I'm terrified for what's to come.
"Next time mind your own business. Bitch."
