"James Buchanan Barnes," you say as you walk into the kitchen. Bucky has Olive sitting on the counter and he's holding grapes for her to eat.
"What?" He asks with irritation in his voice.
"Can we please talk?" You ask as you step closer to him.
"Nope, Olive needs attention," he says without looking at you and at this point, you can feel your blood start to boil.
"Wanda!" You shout and she enters the room flawlessly.
"Yes?" She asks as she walks up to you and Bucky.
"Will you please watch Olive for a little bit? She's kinda shy, but I'm sure she'll warm up to you," you say and Wanda nods her head.
"Yea of course," she says as she takes the grapes from Bucky.
You grab Bucky's arm and drag him out of the kitchen into an empty room. "I'm sorry. I didn't want to kiss Steven. He kissed me. I don't like him—"
"Good for you," Bucky says as he leaves the room.
"Stop!" You shout and he does. He turns around to face you with a irritated look on his face. "Why are you so pissed off at me?" You ask.
"Y/n—"
"I apologized to you even though I didn't do anything wrong. What more do you want from me?" You ask and tears start to build up in your eyes from how frustrated you are.
"I want you to care," Bucky says and you scoff as you roll your eyes. "Forget it," he says as he leaves the room.
You follow him as he walks through the main room in front of everyone and goes outside. You stop a few feet in front of the door before joining him out in the rain.
"Do you think I don't care? Is that what you think?" You ask.
He stops as he turns around to face you. "Yea pretty much," he shrugs and you scoff as tears fall down your face, but they mix with the rain so no one can tell.
"Why?"
"What?"
"Why don't you think I care?" You ask as you step closer to him.
"You laugh when everyone makes comments about us being together as a couple—"
"You laugh too," you interrupt him.
"I laugh because you laugh and I don't wanna out myself, or make things awkward!" He shouts and you step back a bit. He takes a deep breath as he closes his eyes and calms down a bit. "You have no idea how much I care about you," he says in a softer tone, but still loud enough for you to hear over the rain.
"No I don't because you've been to busy ignoring me!" You yell.
"Y/n—"
"No! It's my turn to be angry! It's my turn to be mad at you! At least I have a good reason! You've been making me feel neglected and worthless and everything my father makes me feel, and you wanna know why? Because you abandoned me! Just like he did," you say as more tears fall down your face.
"Doll, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel—"
"I care about you so much, Bucky. You think I wanna be standing out here, in the rain fighting with you like we're in the Notebook? No, I don't. But I followed you out here because I care about you and because I..." you stop yourself as you look at him.
"Because you what?" He asks as he steps closer.
"I love you," you say and Bucky stands there looking at you and not moving.
And without saying another word, you turn around and walk back into the house. He doesn't run after you, or call out your name. He just watches as you walk away from him. And there he stands, by himself, alone, in the rain.
