This Time

John walks closer to you until he's standing right in front of you. "What do you want?" You ask.

"A second chance," he says hopefully with a smile. But his smile quickly drops when you burst out laughing in his face. "Y/n, I'm being serious."

"How did you even find me?" You ask and he looks over his shoulder at everyone who's eavesdropping. "Can we go talk about this somewhere else?" He asks.

You shrug and leave the room, he follows after you. There really wasn't a point at you leaving the room because all the avengers are gonna be listening through the wall.

Once you reach the piano room, you close the door and look at John with your arms crossed over your chest. "Talk," you say sternly causing his eyebrows to jump slightly.

"Wow, you're not scared of me," he chuckles, but when your expression stays stoic, he stops laughing. "Kidding."

"Talk," you repeat as you take a step towards him. "Or I'll make you talk."

"I know everything that's happened in your life these past years," John says.

"Bye," you say with wide eyes and try to leave the room. He grabs your arm to stop you and you look at him. "Let me explain," he begs.

You sit down in front of the piano and he tries to sit next to you, but you man spread on the bench so he can't.

He pulls a chair up next to you instead. "I know about Olive," he says and you immediately stand up, but he pulls you back down. "It's okay," he says softly.

"I know she's the reason you finally snapped at me and beat the shit out of me. If I knew you were pregnant that day, I wouldn't have hit you," he says.

"No, you would accused me of cheating on you and say that the baby isn't yours," you say and he sighs as he nods his head. "You're right, I would've done just that," he agrees.

"I'm different now, I swear," he says and you roll your eyes. "Please John," you scoff.

"I am! I'm seeing a therapist and everything," he says with a worried expression and you stare at him unamused. "I wanna be apart of Olives life."

You shrug your shoulders. "That's not up to me."

"I know, it's up to Emily and Liam. I'm ready to do whatever it takes to meet her. I swear I'm trying now, and I want— I want to try with us again," he says.

"I don't know John, it's not the same—"

"I know. I know it's not the same, but I'm trying. I swear I'm trying as hard as I can to be a better man. I will do whatever it takes I swear y/n. I just want to be yours again. Please, give me one more chance. The second I mess up I'll leave," he says as he gets down on his knees to beg you.

"I love you y/n, I never stopped," he says as he takes your hand in his.

"I won't date you again John, but... we can be friends," you say and he shakes his head.

"No, I can't be friends with you. Do you know how hard it is to be friends with someone you're so in love with?" He asks and you nod your head with a breathy laugh.

"Yea I do," you say.

"Then you know how painful it is. Please, just give me another chance," he begs.

"Okay," you say and his eyes widen.

"Really?" He asks and you nod your head. He lets out a sigh of relief as he lays his head on your lap. "But if you mess up, it's over for good," you say.

"I know," he says as he gets up and sits next to you. "Can you play something?" He asks softly and you nod your head.

You start to play a song and he smiles widely at you. "Maybe this time, I'll be lucky. Maybe this time, he'll stay," you sing.

"Maybe this time, for the first time. Love won't hurry away."

"I love you," Johns says as he kisses your cheek and you smile in response.
