Princess Aurorawing was hidden at the edge of the Ice kingdom, messing around with her animus magic..

She had to do it in secret, because for some reason, literally EVERYONE told her that playing around with it was bad. But she didn't listen, after all, what's the point in having it, if you're not supposed to use it. She remembered the feeling when she discovered she was special. It was on her first hatching day, along with her slightly younger brother, Prince Darkhail, their parents decided to test them, by asking them to turn a tiny snowball into their heart's desire.

Naturally, Aurorawing wished for a beautiful necklace that she could gift to her grandmother, and she got it. But of course, her parents had to ruin it quickly by saying she couldn't use it. Even now, at five hatching day's old, she was so confused on why she couldn't use it.

"Hey, Aura!" Darkhail shouted, before landing beside her.

"Shhhhhh, don't yell, you'll attract some unwanted attention." Aurorawing hissed. "And the last thing I need is for mom and dad to freak out and the queen to give me another lecture."

Darkhail shrugged. "Mom and Dad are too busy waiting for the eggs to hatch, should be any minute."

"Why are you here?" Aurorawing asked, a little growl hung in her voice.

She hated those dumb eggs. Ever since they just showed up, mom and dad have been going on and on about the new dragonets, and how Darkhail was going to be a big brother, and blah blah blah. All Aurorawing really noticed was that mom and dad gave less attention her and more attention to those dumb inanimate objects.

Darkhail pulled a scroll from the pouch around his neck and handed it to Aurorawing. "Mrs.Northstar asked me to give you your exam. You got a perfect score."

"Wait what?!" She exclaimed, snatching the scroll from her brother. A big red 100% was painted on the top of the page. "Three moons, I did! I have to go home and show mom and dad!"

She jumped into the air excitedly, flapping her wings as fast as she could, trying to get to the palace quickly. She couldn't wait to tell her parents that she was no longer flunking school.

She got to the palace in record time, for her, and ran down the long hallway until she reached her parents room. She paused to catch her breath, and ended up listening to her parents conversation.

"Oh Tundra, these dragonets are beautiful. We finally have the perfect three dragonets. The mindreader, seer, and Animus." There was a pause. "You're sure he's an animus?"

"Yes." Tundra responded. "The necklace doesn't lie. Its animus touched."

"Perfect. And I have two perfect daughters to maybe become Queen one day."

Aurorawing felt a pain in her chest. 'Two? What about me?' She couldn't help her thoughts that just began to flow. 'Why am I not good enough?'

She ran down the long hallway, tears streaming down her face.  She couldn't believe her mom. Did she not know that Aurorawing has feelings too? Or was she just so senseless that she just thought about no one but herself?

Aurorawing shook the tears off her face as she took to the sky, flapping her wings as fast as she could move them.

"I'm gonna leave this place." She growled to herself. "And I'm gonna return bigger and stronger."

She gave a death stare to the Ice castle as it grew farther from her view. She then muttered, in a dark, cold menacing tone. "And I'm gonna return as the Queen."
