Leaning at the bar with a glass of alcohol cupped in my hand, I was watching everyone else dance gracefully. I'll admit, I got jealous. I didn't have a dance partner, and there was no way I'd have the courage to ask Ellie to dance if I was sober.
But peering around the room, I could tell she wasn't even here.

"Hey, Y/N," A voice called out to me. I turned my head and noticed Dina approaching me with a grin on her face. My face lit up when I saw her, at least someone I knew was here.

"I didn't think you'd show up!" She joked and playfully punched me in the arm.

"I wasn't planning to." I laughed awkwardly, trying to think of an excuse, but Dina could already guess why I actually came.

"You hoped there was a chance that Ellie would show up, right?"

"Maybe." I muttered and took a sip of my drink.

Dina chuckled. She knew how I felt about Ellie. She kept bugging me to ask Ellie to come to the dance with me. She kept bugging me about how cute we would look together. She kept bugging me about everything and said that she could tell that Ellie felt the same way.

"C'mon, you. Come dance with me." Dina took my drink from out of my hand and placed it on the bar. She took my hand and lead me over to the dance floor.

"Dina–.." I began, smiling a little. She was trying to cheer me up, and it was working.

"Oh come on you big wuss." She interrupted, smiling softly at me. She took both of my hands and placed them on her waist and wrapped her arms around my neck slowly.

Just as I thought Ellie wasn't going to show up, I noticed the familiar red haired girl enter and go up to the bar and grab a drink. She actually came! My heart fluttered when I laid my eyes on her. She looked amazing. I couldn't stop staring until Dina spoke.

"Hey, why don't you just go up and ask her?"

"What if she doesn't feel the same way?" I worried.

"How many times do I have to tell you? She does!–" She paused, peering over to where Ellie was and looked back at you.

"She's getting jealous." She laughed playfully and purposefully got closer to me. It was like she was trying to piss Ellie off, and I think it worked.

Ellie began to approach us two. I could see her in the corner of my eye. She definitely looked pissed. Her jealousy was obvious and she needed to intervene.

"Oh hey Dina. Y/N." She greeted, her jealousy worsening more by the second. She couldn't take her eyes off Dina for a minute and just death stared her.

"Hey Ellie. I didn't think you'd show up." Dina said and looked at you, smirking a little.

"Had nothing better to do." Ellie cut to the chase. "Y/N, can I borrow you for a sec?"
She glared at Dina like she was telepathically telling her 'fuck off, she's mine' and Dina understood.

I looked at Ellie and then back at Dina who was literally ushering me to go with her. She took her arms away from me and I did the same.

"Yeah, sure." I replied, Ellie immediately grabbing me by the hand and leading me outside. It was like she was almost dragging me.

Ellie and I went outside and found some place secluded.

"What were you doing?" Ellie asked. It was almost like she demanded to know, though.

"Just dancing with Dina. Why?"

"Really? That didn't seem like 'just dancing' to me. She has no need to be that close to you." She responded quickly, not breaking eye contact with me.

"But it was–" I paused. Why would she care if it was more than just dancing? "Wait, are you jealous?" I teased, smirking slightly.

"No, not at all." She said defensively. She knew she was lying. I knew too. The way she looked so angry and jealous when she came storming up to Dina and I made it so obvious.

"Why would you pull me out there if you weren't jealous?" I teased her more, hoping she'd admit it. There was a pause. Ellie was lost for words. She kept peering down at my lips.

It was now or never. I leaned in close to her, gently resting my hand on her cheek and kissed her. She slowly put her hands on my waist and kissed me back. It felt amazing. It felt like heaven to finally kiss her. Butterflies filled my stomach and I slowly pulled away. Ellie and I both had to process what just happened for a moment. She then pulled me close to her and hugged me. I whispered softly,

"I love you, Ellie."

"I love you too, Y/N."
