Fading in. Fading out. Fading in. Fading out. That was the pattern that Link's consciousness followed after the incident at the bridge. After he'd fallen unconscious in the raging water, he'd laid in a state where he couldn't tell if he was awake or dreaming. He could hear everything going on around him and feel the water throwing his body around like a rag doll. What felt like hours to him, couldn't have been more than minutes before he felt arms slip underneath his own and grip him around the chest and shoulders. He felt his body being dragged through the water and then suddenly, he was no longer in the lake. He felt his rescuer, whoever they were, pull him up on the shore and lay him down flat. Then nothing.

"Come on, Link... You have to get up." Midna whispered, perched in a chair beside the makeshift bed that Link had been placed on.
She'd been frantically searching after finding her way onto the banks, when she caught sight of a zora. Desperate to locate him, she'd spoken with the zora and had asked for their help. Since they already seemed to know Link, they'd happily agreed and shortly after had rescued him from drowning. However, by the time they'd found him, he was already unconscious and nothing had changed since they'd moved him to Zora's domain. It had been almost a day, yet despite the Zora's elixir that had healed his shattered spine and other injuries, he still had not stirred. As it the daylight began to fade, Midna began to panic; it had been too long. What if he didn't wake soon?
Midna's focus shifted as she heard footsteps enter the room. Looking over her shoulder, she saw a zora; the same zora that had saved Link from the brutal forces of the lake water. Queen Rutela. She wanted to speak, to ask if Link was going to pull through this, but she suddenly found herself unable to get the words out.
"Greetings... Midna, was it?" Queen Rutela began.
"Yes, your highness." Midna found her voice politely.
"Ah, please... Rutela is fine." Queen Rutela corrected her. "Now, I should probably inform you of your friend's current state." She began.
"Oh, yes please. If you would." Midna replied, desperate to know the answer to her question.
"He is alive... If that is what you are concerned about. Unfortunately the impact of landing on the bank after falling from the height that he did, caused his spine to shatter..." Queen Rutela informed her.
"What? But... It can't... I mean, there's so much that still needs to be done, and there's no way I can do it alone. This is worse than I thought..." Midna began to ramble in a panic.
"No, you do not understand, Midna." Queen Rutela told her.
"What do you mean?" She asked, fearing for Link once more.
"Us Zora have incredible powers and we were able to fix Link up... His spine is now fully in tact, however he will need to drink some of our healing elixir when he wakes up, just to seal the deal." Rutela explained.
"And what happens if he doesn't?"
"I'm afraid that he might take a hit that could be fatal to him."
"Oh my..." Midna gasped.
"Please, do not panic. As long as he drinks the elixir, he should be fine."
"Should be..."
"I stand to correct myself; he will be fine."
"How long before he wakes up though?" Midna questioned, concerned that their time was running out.
