-Avneet's pov-

Then don't! After reading the two words, I kept my phone aside. It was too much for me to take. Yesterday the same guy comforted me and whose company I genuinely enjoyed was a completely different person today.

I sat down on the couch and closed my eyes. I could see my eighteen year old self, devastated as she was. I could see the glimpses of the day my mother said on her divorce, "Your father is moving in with her girlfriend and I'm not financially stable to do your college expenses, and I know it's too much for you, but even I'm moving in with my boyfriend and he has two kids already, he couldn't take the responsibility of another. Moreover you're an adult now! Go live your life. It's yours now, get a part time job, go to college, it's you now." How smoothly she said those words.

She was my only friend and the only person who knew everything about me. I trusted her with everything and yet all I got was betrayal. That's when I stopped trusting everyone and letting anyone cross the line.

But Siddharth, he is the only person who knows about my past. I don't know how I ended up telling him. But it felt safe. I kept thinking about what he said. I reacted way too much than I should have. He was right, just his way of putting up words wasn't.

I decided to keep it silent for now and left everything for the next day.

-Next Day-

I didn't realise when I drifted off to sleep yesterday, but after waking up, I had a call from Marco.

"Hey Avneet!"

"Hey Marco how're you? You never called this early? What's up?"

"Um I'm impatient now, I really want to date you now, and get really drunk later, you know what I mean huh! It's Sunday, so are you free today?"

(I could already make out what his intention was, and decided to be straight forward this time.)

"Um-- Marco, I'm really sorry I can't come."

"Ok, maybe tomorrow evening? After work drinks are good too."

"Actually no, sorry."

"Then when?"

"I am sorry, But I don't want to date you, you're a really good person, it's just I don't see a future for us and I'm not interested in escalating more than friends, I hope you understand."

"AHH! AWKWARD! Okay your loss, anyways you're not even that interesting or pretty."

'As if you're the perfect man out there douchebag, I didn't know a refusal can make you lose manners in a split second."

"Fuck off bye."

God! Siddharth was right, he indeed turned out to be dick. I feel really guilty .Now that Marco's out of picture, I know exactly what to do.
