Happy Halloween, darlings!!
"What is the point of this ridiculous holiday? I don't want you to be someone else, I can barely recognize you in that," Loki whined. He had been complaining for the whole day. October 31st, aka Halloween. It was his first one since living with me, and I was damn well determined to give him a good experience trick or treating. "But that's the point, Loki. Halloween's all about pretending to be someone else just for one night, and getting free candy!" I smirked, emphasizing on the free candy bit. His expression lightened a bit. "Fine. But I'm not doing it next year."
We heard the happy squeals of young trick or treaters outside. "Costume check!" I shouted. We lined up beside each other in front of the mirror. I was being a woodland elf, and Loki was being...himself. Not terribly out of character for him. "Really? Whatever," I sighed.
"What? I didn't have anything better planned!"
"Nothing. You couldn't have gone as, like a pirate or something?"
"No, and I will not," he said, upturning his head. I shrugged and grabbed a basket to put our candy in. We left and set a bowl of candy out for any stray kids that happened to come by.
Before the first house, I told Loki, "When we go up there, we're going to say 'Trick or treat'." His eyes lit up with mischievous delight. "No, I know what you're thinking! No pranks tonight!" I chastised.
"But it's trick or treat!"
"And they give you treats, so no tricks!"
Loki huffed and rolled his eyes. "Fine. I will not prank anyone," he said reluctantly. I pulled him along. We said the magic words and the kindly old lady handed us a handful of candy. Loki's eyes lit up with joy. "See? That's what happens when you're nice." Loki smiled and shook his head.
We continued this for a bit until we reached the last house on my block. We rang the doorbell and a man in a sweater vest answered. He took one look at us and growled, "You two are way too old to be trick or treating! Go home!" then promptly slammed the door in our faces. I blinked twice from the shock. I started to walk back home, and I heard Loki say behind my back, "You said trick or treat, right?"
"Yes.."
"Alright, then." He walked with me and I saw a faint green glow emit from his palm. An egg. I smirked. I didn't usually condone his tricks at the expense of others, but this idiot deserved it. He handed me the first egg and then summoned a whole dozen. We waited until nobody was looking and then started egging the house, the car, everything that belonged to him. "Trick or treat!"
