The only thing on your mind is the scolding you are about to receive from your colleague.
You find yourself walking through Springvale, the sun rising in the distance, creating a pink hue in the sky. You didn't want to do anything but sleep in today, but you knew you wouldn't. You couldn't, especially after the news you heard last night. You were going to see your friend two weeks after his departure, and personally, it seemed like you would be the only one to miss him.
Scaramouche was not a favorite amongst most. It's no surprise he used cruel methods to retrieve what he wanted. However, you guys understood each other even if he didn't want to admit it. You didn't give up on him as everyone had.
After all, he was the one that saved you.
Your thoughts are interrupted by the sound of distant chatter. You lift your head to see three unfamiliar faces revealing themselves in your view. They didn't seem like they were from here, mainly because one was wearing a short kimono. Their voices became easier to understand the closer they got. Quietly, you hide behind a wide tree.
"I'm so excited about the festival I could almost scream!" cheers the blonde girl as she places her hands on her hips. "My fireworks are no joke, gentlemen. I've brought my best."
"No screaming, please. My ears are sensitive to loud sounds. Also, can we focus on where we're going? It feels like we're wandering in circles."
"Yo, we should definitely do a screaming contest!" replies one of them, interrupting the dog-eared boy. This one appears muscular, especially walking around effortlessly while carrying three suitcases. Red horns poke out of his spiky, white hair. Now, you were no expert in figuring out species, but he is definitely an oni.
It reminds you of the time Scaramouche taught you about Inazuma's language, fashion, and cuisine. You always found Inazuma's culture to be so beautiful.
The girl halts in her tracks. "You want to bet on that, Itto?! I'll win like always."
"As in 'always' you mean never, right?"
"Nah, I could never let you win. Do you know what would be cool, though?" She smirks. "A challenge to see who could eat the most beans."
The oni gasps, his eyes widening. "Say psyche right now, Yoimiya."
"Not a chance."
As the others bicker, the dog-eared boy huffs with frustration as he examines the map in his hand. You can't understand why you're watching them since you hope not to waste time and be deemed suspicious if you lingered around and they manage to witness you. So, you start walking away from the scene. You know their names and faces now. If something bad were to happen, you'd know who to target.
"We need to ask a local for directions," the dog-eared boy says, looking around. When you hear his words, you begin walking faster. "Wait, come back!"
If you run, of course, you would look guilty. Guilty of what? You didn't know. You might've appeared like a treasure hoarder to them. You turn your head around, unveiling the hood of your cloak to show your head.
You smile at him. "Are you in need of any assistance, sir?"
"Woah." His cheeks hue a light pink as his ears twitch. "Um, my companions here and I wish to have directions to this area right here," he answers, handing you his map.
Circled in red is Windwail Highland. Wolvendom and Springvale are within the circle as well, but there is a smaller circle in the middle. And as you stand in silence as your eyes widen, the boy raises a brow.
Itto walks over, making the boy flinch. "Yo, doggy general, Gorou, my dude, who's this person you're talking to?" As if he is judging you, he eyes you up and down. Then, his mouth curves into a smile. "Your cloak is sick! I might get myself one. I'll look super mysterious and stuff."
