24 Days Remaining - "New Moon"
You don't last a week. You last four days without sleep because you can't rest thinking about Fischl's sobs. Her cries of agony could only be described as a terrifying mystery.
But you want to know more.
You even feel a bit bad for her. She is stuck in the care of Scaramouche—who was once the one who took care of you. He's definitely growing a soft spot for others.
He sees so much in me, yet he insists on calling me anything but human, you tell yourself. Maybe you're different.
You haven't talked to Diluc at all. You don't have time to. You have been trying to figure out who this mysterious crystal bandit is. You haven't seen Fischl and Scaramouche either.
You sneaked out the past few days into the hideout, but they weren't there. Go figure.
You face the other way on the couch, hugging a fluffy pillow close to your chest that you stole from one of the rooms. The world is much more peaceful at night, even if it contrasts the amount of thoughts you have. At least you are at an angle where the moonlight isn't hitting your face.
Step.
You open your eyes. Gorou walks out of the bathroom to the dining table. He looks under the plates and candles. You exchange glances and he covers his face before heading inside the kitchen.
"Gorou?" you say.
He doesn't respond.
You sigh before standing and making your way inside the kitchen. Everyone is oddly suspicious now that you know one of these party-goers is trying to steal the crystal.
The kitchen is too dark for your liking, and you have no clue where the light switch is because it isn't near the door. Your shoulder bumps into pots filling up one of the four sinks. His water bill must be higher than the number of things you steal a year.
Gorou opens a door as you stalk behind him. Light appears from the room and you sprint.
Once you make it, you realize it's a pantry—because what else could it be?
He looks through boxes, moving them out of place, and then turns around, letting out a yelp. You cover his mouth with your hands.
You study the way his tail wags upright. "What are you doing in here?"
He moves your hands away. "You scared me!"
"You looked suspicious. What was I supposed to do? Not investigate?"
"I'm pretty sure that's how people die."
You shrug. "Fair point." You step out of the pantry. "So, what are you doing here?"
"Mr. Ragnvindr said we can walk into the kitchen to retrieve food. I was going to snack on some cereal until you walked in. Now, if you will please excuse me, I'm going back to bed."
That's strange. You could have sworn he looked like he was searching for something. "It's almost six. What's the point?"
"A little rest won't hurt."
"Walk with me."
"What?"
You grab his arm and pull him to the entrance of the manor. You open the door, the breeze hitting his sleepy face. "We're going to go on a nice stroll."
"[Y/N], this is not a smart idea. I'm still in my sleepwear."
"If Itto was here, would you come?"
A rosy hue appears on his face. "What are you insinuating here?"
