Memories are an idiotic thing. One day, you will have it. The next day, it's gone.
Why is it up to you to assemble your memories? Who stole them from you? What happened to you?
This isn't even your memory, so why are you here?
"I still don't trust you," you say, studying the blueprint. What is Project: Pluto? "If you attempt to stab me in the back, I swear I will kill you in this memory."
"I'm not sure if I can pass away."
You look back at him with a smirk forming on your face. "Want to test it out?"
"Don't attempt to start your foolish antics," he says. "I know you've tried to kill me multiple times, but you still fail to succeed." You're surprised he doesn't say that with a scowl.
Kill is a strong word. Now that you think about it, you have never attempted to kill him. Sure, you like causing him pain, but the thought of him dead is out of the question.
You would have no one to chase.
Is that why you always threatened to kill him? Is that why you hated the idea of someone else hurting him?
That's when you realize his pupils aren't vertically slit anymore, but you direct your eyes to the blueprint instead.
The blueprint has the parts to build an automaton, but some of the parts are scribbled out as if in a rush. The parts crossed out are robotic arms, a spinnable upper body, missile cannons, a shimmering core-which is instead replaced by "the heart," and much more. The list reaches the bottom of the blueprint.
Your arms are growing tired, so you blow out the torch. The darkness quickly seeps in. The only light in the room is the torch lit by the elevator.
You shudder, holding your body close. The cold stings. "Di-Luc, can you emit a flame? I can't see," you say, squinting at him.
"I can't exactly do that."
"Why?" you say, thinking about Fischl sobbing in pain. She couldn't use her magic either.
You wonder if time stops in your dream world. Well, maybe it does. The only evidence you have of this is when you were snooping in Diluc's room and it was like time had stopped.
That must mean time doesn't move.
You have all the time in the world...
"With this curse, I cannot use my magic."
You stand and place the blueprint on the table. "Curse?"
"Oh, I suppose you don't know what I am," Luc says, standing with you. "Follow me, my love. I would like for you to see something."
You grab Scaramouche's hat before hurrying to the elevator. The elevator lights up and you two step inside.
"Woah, this elevator is new," you say, touching the doors that didn't have moss. "All of the other ones aren't like this."
You retract your hand.
It's new because you're in the past.
You reach for your chest and take in a deep breath. Gazing at your sudden shaking hands, your chest rises and falls at a rapid pace.
There isn't a heartbeat.
You stare at your shaking hands as the doors open. Luc walks out, but you're frozen in horror.
There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat. There isn't a heartbeat.
