Five people walk across a small sandbar, a majestic Lion four knew all too well following behind. One turns, noticing the golden Lion. "Aslan." Eustace Scrubb, cousin to High King Edmund and High Queen Lucy, softly speaks in respect for the being.
The other four also turn, hearing his voice. "The time has come for you to choose, Edmund, Eustace, Freya and Lucy. Stay or go?" Aslan spoke. Freya steps forward. "I'm staying. Narnia has become my home in the short time I've been here." She declares. "Then we stay with you." Both Edmund and Lucy respond, not wanting to leave her behind.
Eustace returns alone, dreading having to break the news of their deaths to Peter and Susan.
Two years later.
After proposing and marrying, Edmund and Freya were the High King and High Queen of Narnia. Lucy had married Caspian once getting to know him better. The four were happy, living their lives as Kings and Queens. Caspian and Lucy often travelled the Narnian waters aboard the Dawn Treader, exploring their kingdom and making treaties.
Edmund and Freya were reunited with Peter and Susan, one night during their honeymoon.
Hearing rustling and voices outside, newlywed Edmund and Freya armed themselves, flinging the door open. "Peter? Susan? What are you doing here?" A bewildered Edmund asked. "We've come to take you and Lucy home." Susan answered, reaching for her brother's hand. He backed up. "No. Lucy and I have settled down, marrying and travelling. Lucy married Caspian, after discovering they shared a lot in common. Sorry, Susan. I married Diana and we're the new High King and High Queen. Goodbye, Peter, Susan. I'll miss you both greatly. Someday, we'll be reunited in Aslan's Country." The elder two were shocked by their brother's refusal, looking to Freya in hopes of persuading him to go with them.
She shook her head, silently saying no. She had no intention of leaving her husband, so Peter and Susan went home saddened.
She watched them go, weary. Edmund grabbed her hand and guided her back to bed.
