Mabel

There are moments in life when time seems to stand still. No matter how much you look around you, nothing moves, everything is still, and people who speak do not make a sound. That's when all you can hear is the sound of your heart beating in your ears.

Everything seems false, yet everything is real.

Seeing Harry with her changed something in me. That simple image is all that plays in my head on a loop. All the questions I had vanished when my eyes landed on them.

I don't know why I thought a chance was somehow still possible with him. He moved on as quickly as he left.

I've never felt so foolish as I did at that moment. Lucas is next to me, trying to talk to me, but it's no use. Words go in one ear and out the other.

The more I look at them, the angrier I get. A wave of anger that I thought had gone away. Leaving to come back better, I guess

As they move on, their eyes turn towards us. If everyone around me is smiling to finally see Harry Styles, one of the greatest fashion directors, it's the opposite for me.

My emotions have always been visible on my face and for once I am grateful. Seeing Harry's face break down when he saw me is an image I'd like to keep in my mind for the rest of my life.

They continue to walk but this time in our direction. Harry having separated from the rest of them, a determined look on his face.

As I continue to look, I see that Mio is also there, he is in Niall's arms but as our eyes meet, a smile comes over his face and he tries to leave Niall's arms but he holds him tighter, preventing him from leaving.

I will never understand why Mio is so happy every time he sees me. It must be the third time, but it's like he's known me forever. At no point does it bother me but I'm afraid he'll get attached to me and I to him and a second goodbye will be made, no longer including Harry and me but him too

My brain doesn't register the fact that they're right in front of us. I've barely had time to blink, and they're among us.

They all greet and introduce each other one by one. Harry is the first one to come and talk to Lucas. Although it's Lucas he's talking to, I can feel him looking at me and trying to get my attention. I can't even hear their conversation, my brain is on autopilot and solely focused on trying to act normal.

When the boys have finished talking, Harry stands in front of me and gently grabs my hands. At the touch, my brain kicks in again and a wave of electrical discharges through my body.

I remove my hands as quickly as I can, making it as normal and natural as possible

His eyes sadden, "Please Mabel" he pleads, whispering

"No. Pretend you don't know me, you did well for two years, you can do it now" I hide my hands behind my back so he can't see them shaking

"You know I can't"

"Well you should, Harry. Now is not the time" I don't give him time to answer and leave him to join Lucas where we were settled before they arrived.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Lucas asks as soon as I sit down, giving me something to drink

I nod, "Actually I do"

"I'm all ears"

"There is something I don't quite understand. The little we spoke, Harry was always the same as before. There's a huge distance between us, but every time he wants us to talk and work things out. But the next thing you know, he's with Harlow, very close to her"
