Beatrice and I were both exhausted, but we decided to take turns sleeping and keeping watch. Beatrice called first watch, so I rested by a tree.
I dreamed that I was back in the edelwood alley. A figure stood at the end.
"Greg?" I asked. Greg came out of the shadows and smiled.
"Hiya Wirt!" he said. "How are you and...woah, cool antlers!"
"They're not cool at all," I grumbled. "They're from the Beast."
"He's still around?" Greg asked. "Ugh."
I nodded. "But...I'm pretty sure Beatrice and I are together."
Greg squealed. "THAT'S AMAZING! Have you two kissed?!" I nodded again, sheepishly. Greg cheered.
"She almost died, Greg. That's not fun." A pause.
"Okay, MASSIVE subject change here, but how are you planning to kill the Beast?" Greg asked.
"I don't know, Greg," I admitted.
"Okay, let's see." Greg started. "Didn't you say those antlers were from the Beast?"
"Yeah," I agreed. "He put part of his soul into me."
"Isn't his soul in the lantern?"
"...Yes."
"Well, then, I know how to kill him," Greg said slowly. "But. It requires sacrifice."
I realized what he meant. "You want someone to blow out the lantern...and kill the Beast...and also kill me."
