Chapter 3 : Valerie

The class was starting to get tense and the teacher was giving a strange glare.

" Today we will bee talking about supernatural events" the teacher said. Ryan was starting to feel a little queasy and sick. The word "supernatural" made him think of last night's disaster.

"Does anyone know if they ever saw some kind of... mysterious creature". No one raised there hand except for a girl no older than him with a purple skirt and dirty shirt on." Yes Valerie" the teacher said surprised that someone actually seen something magical.

" Fairys are a rare sight. They can't be seen with a human eye. Most of the time fairys are disguised as butterfl " before she continued she was interrupted by James

"If it can't be seen with a human eye how have you seen them?" James said like he was the smartest man on earth. The bell rang and kids flooded the hallways. Ryan got all of his things and left to walk home.

"Ryan!" Valerie screamed racing behind him. "Sorry for your loss". Ryan stood there in shock. How could she ever know about this. "How did you know?" Ryan asked.

"I see it in your eyes. You are depressed and confused" she said quietly. Valerie stared at the ground

"My parents died a couple years ago and I know how it feels". Valerie walked Ryan home and when they arrived his aunt opened the door and her eyes widened

"Valerie! It's been so long and I don't know what to say. Can I talk with Valerie for a sec" aunt Linda said. They walk into the kitchen leaving Ryan to think.

"Why are you here" aunt Linda exclaimed angrily "you don't expect Ryan to just walk around and somehow figure out what ever happened to his parents" Valerie whispered so Ryan couldn't hear them." What ever you do not take him to the vortex you hear me . I do not want him near near a vortex do you remember what happened to his sister Emma" aunt Linda was going to say more until Ryan walked in

"Did someone say Emma?" Ryan said. Aunt Linda and Valerie looked at each other "how much did you hear?" Valerie asked. "Just Emma" he said.

"It's nothing but I think Valerie wants to show you something" aunt Linda said sounding worried. Ryan ran to his new room and got ready .

" are you really going to let me take him to the vortex! " Valerie yelped. She ran out the door before Linda cuald answer and Ryan quickly followed after her. He followed her through the neighborhood to a the largest tree in town. The tree was as tall as the white house. She turned around and said "this is the vortex" Ryan was very confused. He walked around the tree but it was a totally normal tree. Then Valerie started to mumble words like his parents did last night. After she was done the wind started to become stronger. It wirled around the tree and all of the sudden a bright light was givin off. Ryan felt lighter. He felt as if he was floating. At last he felt the ground once more and the light died down.

"Here we are" Ryan heard faintly into the distance. He looked up "were are we?" He said amazed of the sight

"This is Grigsmore "
