Iris and August had the most closest friendship ever. They went through everything together and never stayed apart. I guess that's why it was so easy for Iris to fall for her.

"Kill me" They sighed.

They sat up and grabbed their phone, checking for messages or just anything important.

"Good morning idiot" They texted August, smiling.

5 Minutes passed, no answer.

Iris sighed and got up, clicking in 27 different places while stretching.

"Ow" They muttered.

They got dressed into their trousers and just threw a random shirt on with a grey jacket.

"This will do"

They grabbed their phone and then their bag and walked downstairs. When they got downstairs they walked to the kitchen and made a cup of tea. Afterwards, they sat on the sofa and was watching TikTok while drinking their warm cup of tea, hoping that August would respond to them.

They drank all their tea and then put their cup in the sink, put their shoes on, grabbed their phone and bag, and left. They locked the door and walked to the bus stop. They grabbed their headphones and connected it to their phone and then they listened to their favourite artists: Girl In Red, Juice WRLD, The Killers and ICP. They took off their headphones and fluffed up their short, brown hair. They put back on their headphones when their bus came and then they sat by themself just staring out the window.

Just to let you know, Iris is 6 foot three so its terrifying to try to bully them since they tower over you.

Iris Looked back on their texts with August and they sighed. Why didn't she love them back?

When they finally got to school, they sat on the bench and just ignored Maeve.

"Iris?" Asked Maeve.

"Mmh?" Iris Responded.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm listening to music"

"Oh okay."

Maeve went quiet and was just texting someone on her phone. Shortly afterwards, August got to school. Iris's face bright up and they hugged her.

"Why didn't you respond to me idiot" Scowled Iris.

"I was texting Maeve sorry..." Mumbled August.

"Whatever"

Iris got back on the bench and their heart dropped. Why couldn't she just love them?

They looked at August and Maeve giggling together.

They got annoyed and just sighed, there was nothing they could do at this point.

From the corner of their eye they could see Oliver staring at Maeve. What was going on?

They got confused and looked at Oliver, he looked flustered and looked back towards his friends, they knew exactly what was going on.

As the day came to an end, Iris went up to August.

"Hey wanna come over mine?" Iris insisted.

"Yeah sure!" August said excitedly.

August went on Iris's bus and they went to their house. When they got there, they both took off their shoes and went up to Iris's room.
August sat on their bed and got comfortable.

"So what do you wanna do?" Asked August.

"You should ask Maeve out sooner! Like tomorrow maybe...???" Iris responded

"WHAT? NO!" August shouted.

"She doesn't like me! I don't wanna ruin the friendship!"

"I bet she does!" Iris answered.

August looked at Iris with hope in her eyes and smiled.

"Okay fine, I will. I wanna do it with just me and her though okay? After school tomorrow!" August laughed.

"Finally!" Iris squealed, hugging August.

Iris suddenly felt sad in their heart, why couldn't they just be happy for her?

August and Iris went downstairs and was playing with Iris's cats, Haley and Damien, and then she went home.

Iris sat in bed, staring at their ceiling just daydreaming about August. They were best friends and nothing could change that... Right?
