PROLOGUE

I put the wine glass on our luxurious table while still using my smug face, even though my insides were falling apart right after his revelations.

"So... we were using each other, is that it?" I asked again to clear things. It's just... I can't believe everything he said.

"Your husband's father killed my father, Eirlys. I wanted revenge. I killed your father-in-law with my own hands, too. And I am regretting nothing." He smirked as he sipped his wine.

"And you used me as well? To hurt my husband more?" I tried my best to stay calm. I can't believe I maintained my own voice!

"As you used me, too. You asked me to be your paramour, right? I stooped that low just to help you get even—"

"Cut it. You agreed not only to help me. You agreed because it will also benefit you."

He chuckled. I can't believe him! Hindi niya ba itatanggi para man lang pagaanin ang loob ko?! How come... well, pumayag nga siyang maging kabit ko, e.

"You're right. Imagine the satisfaction I felt when he found out about our relationship? The pain on his face was so visible, and it felt so good, Eirlys. Don't tell me hindi ka natuwa?" He arched his brow, tinitimbang ang mga kilos ko.

My shaking hand reached for my wine glass again. I swallowed hard secretly. He's watching me, I can see it.

"What's your plan now?" he asked casually.

"What do you mean by plan?" Umirap ako sa kanya.

That explains why he agreed to be my other man. Dahil may hidden agenda siya! Now I know. Now I see. Malas ka, Eirlys. Malas ka na nga sa asawa, malas ka pa sa kabit.

I chuckled as I shook my head.

"You are going to divorce your husband, yes?" Nagtaas muli ito ng kilay.

Gumuhit ang ngiti sa labi ko sa inakto niya. "Why do you care?"

Naningkit ang mga mata niya.

"Why do I care? You cheated on him, and then you will still stay with him? There's no way you'll do that, Eirlys. That's heavily stupid." Umirap akong muli. "Stop rolling your eyes."

I heard his heavy sigh before he stood up and started to walk around. We're here in my office. I own this boutique because I am now a fashion designer.

"What?" He stopped beside me. "Kabit lang, Eirlys?" His finger appeared in front of me. He used it to lift my face so he could look me in the eye. "As far as I remember... I am your lover, right?" He leaned in to give me a kiss, but I moved away.

"Stop it." I removed his finger from under my chin. "Anong pinagkaiba no'n? Lover, boyfriend... kahit ano pang itawag mo sa sarili mo, kabit pa rin kita," I smiled evilly.

"Shut your pretty mouth before I think of fucking it." My eyes widened when he said those vulgar words! "Oh... why do you look so shocked? You like it that way, right?"

"You shut your mouth." Inirapan ko siyang muli.

"Tell me, Eirlys. I am not just your paramour, right?" A glitch of hope came across his eyes so fast. I saw it, but I shouldn't care.

"What are you to me, then?" I stood up so I could at least level him.

He swallowed secretly, but heck! I saw it! My presence has so much effect on him.

I walked towards him. The sound of my stiletto was the only noise in this room, and it felt like... it was giving me power over him.

"Do you really consider yourself as my lover?" I asked, very close to him. I nearly kissed him, but I wouldn't do that.

"Because you told me so." His husky voice was like music to my ears. I know he's distracted because of my lips.

"Well, not anymore. We're done. Nakaganti na 'ko sa asawa ko at ikaw, nagawa mo na rin ang gusto mo. I didn't expect that you had a hidden agenda, but it doesn't matter anymore. But thanks to you, huh? It just opened my eyes more—that I shouldn't trust anyone. And another thank you for helping me and for being my paramour."

Bago pa gumalaw ang kamay ko para masampal siya, dinampot ko na agad ang purse ko.

Hindi ako makapaniwalang mas masakit palang magago ng kabit. Akala ko... natural lang lahat ng ipinakita niya sa akin sa loob ng ilang buwan na 'yon, but no. It was all planned.

He used me just like how I used him.

"We're done? That's it?" pahabol nito.

"Eirlys, you're going to divorce your husband, right?" I snorted when he spoke before I could hold the doorknob.

I looked back at him.

"You're so concerned about it. Stop investing too many feelings in my marriage. Just like what I said, kabit lang kita. Ex-paramour, to be exact. Stop meddling with it. See you never, Xelios."
