"So, Did you see anything else in the forest, aside from the deceased person you found?" The investigator looked across the table to me, I hoped to just go straight home, but now, after calling the police and reporting the dead body..

I'm now a witness.

"Nothing abnormal..Sir." I wondered if the other people who saw the silhouette lied. Or did they tell the truth?..

"I wondered if they lied like me.. Because if not, I just made a grave mistake.." The thought whispered unpleasantly in my mind.

The investigator checked if the windows were secured, then went back to his seat. He started pulling papers from the desk, reading them each at a quick pace.

Then, he started taking out all the other witnesses, the dates were quite recent.

He started to slightly frown as he scratched his head in slight frustration. "Dead end after dead end," He mumbled to himself. Then he looked at me and gave a quick smile.

"Ah, you have nothing to worry about, The corpse is being investigated, I'm sorry that you had to see that absurd scene..."

He paused, then he thought about what else to say.

Suddenly, he asked me, "May I ask, how old are you?" The investigator asked me.

"Oh.. uhm.. Fifteen." I said a tiny bit nervously, and a bit of confusion. I slightly narrowed my eyes with a bit of suspicion..

He started to slightly frown again, and his eyes seemed dull. "This just had to make another wrong turn, didn't it?.."

I flinched, what the heck did he mean by "This just had to make another wrong turn"? He must have seen my sudden movement and he said something quietly, with a slightly worrying tone, but inaudible.

"When can I go back to my family?" I asked him.

"Right after we're finished here, then you can just do whatever you do on your normal days." He replied firmly.

"Just a few more questions." He stared out the covered window, yet there was nothing to look at except the closed steel curtains, so it was strange that he was looking at it.

Then he looked back at me. "Listen.." He began, "I'd ought to warn you that, not everything will be back to normal for you." I stayed there, I knew things won't be the same after all, but it shouldn't be too different.

As the hour wore on, and the questioning session finished, I was taken back home.

As I arrived, My parents had a relieved look on their face.

My other three sisters didn't seem to care much, especially the eldest. The oldest sibling, who is 21, stays in the house, but likes to party a lot with a bunch of her friends.

Her name is Courtney, I see her ehm... flirt quite a lot with her other male friends. She must have gotten it from the rest of the group.

The second oldest, Who is just a year older than me, gets along quite well with Courtney.

Her name is Sylvia.

Sylvia looks up to our oldest sister a lot and basically just does whatever she does. She's friends with all Courtney's friends, and is the youngest of their group.

Their friends aren't what you'd say is the best influencer for them, in my opinion..

Lastly, there is Bella, she's the youngest of all of us, but seems to get along with everyone but me. She's eight, but as I said, Courtney's and Sylvia's friends aren't the best influence.

They bring their friends here to the house a lot to just party and hang out, so Bella has picked up quite a lot from them.

Then- Of course, I know I can stay with my siblings and have some bonding, but I honestly think it's better off if I stay by myself, no one else to hang out with. I don't like their friends- as I said before they are not the best influencers, and I don't want to become like them.

So I stay in my room, sitting down, bored and clueless. I start to wander off, remembering some important events that I was told, or I experienced..

Overall, things had been hard for me. When I was 4, My father died at the age of 28. I don't remember much about him, since I was quite young.

All I remember was what my real mother told me, his name was James, Him and mom were absolutely smitten with each other, right there he knew mom was the woman for him.

He tried his best to support the family, although his job was a normal cashier, he still found a way to save enough to keep the financial bills paid.

A year later, I remember writing in my journal that my mother married my step dad.

My step dad's name is Charles, he's a businessman, so he's often quite busy.

A year later, Ameila, My mother.. died. The doctors couldn't find the exact reason, or, at least my step dad told me that..

But I always wanted to look into it. He never let me check the report card. It was strange, Whenever I asked about my mother's death, he would have a frantic expression. Then leave the room without telling me anything.

Later on in life, my step father married another woman named Jennifer, An exterior designer.

She already had two kids, Courtney and Sylvia. So basically I'm not blood related to anyone in my family. Even Bella, as she was born a few years later after I was partially adopted.

And, there was much more about all of them, but I decided not to think about it for now.

I don't really have someone to turn back to, I never knew my actual grandparents or my aunt or uncles- it seemed that my real parents were distant with all their relatives.

But I always had a bit of hope, a bit of light. I still had my parents, even if they weren't blood related to me, they are one of my loved ones. In fact, my family is the only thing I have left, so it shouldn't matter if they are blood related to me or not.

Even if sometimes some of them get on someone's nerves, we all still love each other.

At least.. That was how I felt to them. Surely they felt the same?
