Since the time that he met Jia Li and found out about her marriage and pregnancy, Li Huan has not been himself.

He has been thinking a lot lately that he didn't bother to tell his mother about his promotion for days until her call came in.

"You have been promoted? That's a relief. You have to come back, mum will cook a lot of food to celebrate and I'm sure you haven't been eating properly." Mrs. Li said to him happily over the phone.

"Mum, I'm very busy, it won't be easy to make it." Li Huan replied.

"Even if you have other people under you now, your weekends should still be free. Come home next weekend and celebrate with your lonely mother." Mrs. Li said as she tried to persuade him.

"Okay, I will come back next weekend." Li Huan replied tiredly.

"When last did you speak to Jia Li? Have you told her about your promotion?" Mrs. Li asked in a curious tone.

She was very happy that her son was promoted at his workplace, now she was thinking it was time for him to settle down and she found Jia Li to be the perfect wife for her son, and the perfect daughter-in-law for her.

"I spoke to Jia Li a few days ago and she knows about my promotion." Li Huan replied.

"Good! Ask her to come with you to visit me, you can tell her that I missed her and want to see her. You are not getting younger, you need to start making plans about settling down and Jia Li is the right person to settle down with." Mrs. Li pointed out with an excited tone.

Being reminded of his relationship with Jia Li, Li Huan felt pain in his chest. He had just learned that the woman he has always had his eyes on was already married and pregnant with someone else's baby. This was something demoralizing.

Li Huan felt so angry but he couldn't blame his mother for mentioning it because she was still in the dark about Jia Li's marriage.

"Mum, I can't invite Jia Li back home and I can't marry her." Li Huan said to his mother.

The smile on Mrs. Li's face disappeared and she began to lecture him.

"Li Huan, what do you me by you can't invite Jia Li back home and it's not possible to marry her? Did you find another one at that place you went to work? Let me tell you, I will not accept any other daughter-in-law if it's not Jia Li. You have known Jia Li for such a long time and I know you liked her, so what happened now?"

Li Huan heaved a sigh as he thought that he should tell his mother the truth, so she would stop blaming and lecturing him.

"Mum, things are not the way you are thinking. I don't have a girlfriend here. The reason I can't ask Jia Li to come home with me or marry her is that she is already married." Li Huan revealed.

Mrs. Li was so shocked by the revelation that she blurted out almost immediately, "What did you say?!"

"Mum, it's true, Jia Li is already married. We met some days ago when I asked for us to meet, as she told me about it." Li Huan revealed.

"How did this happen? When did she get married? Which family did she get married to?" Mrs. Li asked a series of questions because she was still in disbelief.

"She told me she got married around September. She married into the Fu family." Li Huan said in a sad tone.
