⚠️TW FOR THIS CHAPTER: Mentions of mental abuse.⚠️

Once we get downstairs mom and dad are sitting at the table. Moms got her laptop open, she's got this new book she's working on and she's been showing me bits and pieces of it. Apparently it's like a mafia romance which is kind of funny because dad's ex mafia... she says the love interest isn't based on dad but I highly doubt it. She's got an obsession and I'm not going to say anything.
I sat down at the table, dad already made me and Flynn our plates. Mom looks at me "are you hanging out with Mark? It's his birthday" I cut my pancakes and then put one bite into my mouth. I swallow then look at mom "later maybe, I have to see Luke" mom tilts her head to the side and so does dad. "You have to?" Mom says looking at me, her eyebrows drawn together. "W-well..." I look at my plate, in the corner of my eye I can see my dad looking deeply into me. Stop it, I hate the 'worried parent' look.
"Luke got movie tickets for them and forgot to ask if Mazie had something." Flynn says out of nowhere. Remind me to thank him. "Y-yea I felt bad saying no or canceling so I told Mark I'd see him after" mom looks at Flynn and I just focus on the look my dad is giving me. Like he could murder someone, he knows doesn't he? Fuck. I take another bite and try to avoid the stare. Mom looks at me "right...ok" she says, her tone is very unsure. I look at my dad.
He swallows and then rubs his jaw looking at mom. When dad gets mad or stressed he has a habit of looking at mom and somehow he's ok again, and if that doesn't work he either takes a walk or cooks. Again my parents are disgusting and adorable. My dad has some anger issues but he definitely has a handle on it. He's the calmest man to exist but if any of us gets hurt, it's all hell break loose. Mom looks at dad and then looks at me "just make sure you see him Mazie, he's your best friend" I nod "I know mom, I will, I promise." I continue to eat my food.
