He tucks some hair behind your ear. He can't stop touching you. God, you can't remember if there was ever truly a time when Lindsey could resist reaching out for you.

"Why?" He asks.

It was a simple enough question and all you had to do was answer it the way Chris said it. "This is different than being on the road, Linds. It's one thing to be in anonymous places where our families are far away, but this so different. Your family is twenty minutes away. You....have to go home to them every night. Do you really want to go home to your wife smelling like sex and me? It doesn't matter what you do or say to me. The fact of the matter is, "you picked her." That's okay. I get it. You have a family. I live with that every day and so do you. It's just.....it's too close to home now, Linds."

"So what are you saying?"

"I'm saying....no more sex. You and I are just going to be friends and you're not going to treat me like shit because there are three people upstairs who will definitely kill you."

Lindsey laughs, even though it sounds a little sad, "No, I won't be mean to you. If you want to just be friends, then let's just be friends. You're right, this is completely different from being on the road."

You look at him relieved, "really?" He nods at you and you move to embrace him and he hugs you so tight as if he's never going to see you again.

Later that evening, after you had all gone over some songs and started putting music together, you decided that you were all getting a little hungry and that maybe it was time for a dinner break, "I'll call this really great restaurant and they can have a private table for us in forty-five minutes."

Everyone scatters to go get ready; even Lindsey speeds home to find something nicer to wear.

Chris follows you upstairs and she says, "alright, what was that?"

"What?" You ask, so innocently. Chris rolls her eyes; she was used to your feigned innocence, "with you and Buckingham. One minute you'll be all over each other and the next it's all business. It's like 1976 all over again."

You laugh a little, "oh, that. Well. I thought about what you and I talked about and you're right. This isn't a tour. This is home. What's he going to do? Go home every night smelling like sex and my perfume? It couldn't keep going on. So we just decided to be friends and I know that's something we're capable of."

You're getting undressed and putting on a black, low-cut dress that reaches the floor without your heels and you turn so Chris can zip you up, "how long do you think this whole 'we're just friends' thing is going to work?"

You shrug and move to do your hair and makeup and you glance at her in the mirror and shrug, "maybe forever."

Chris actually laughs at you and kisses your cheek, "Oh my little darling, you and that man are going to die together and everyone knows it. Have you perhaps, I don't know, just asked him to leave his wife?"

You look at her incredulously and it takes you a moment to find your words, "I can't just ask a man to leave his wife."

She lights up a cigarette and goes to sit by the window, "why not? He doesn't love her. He loves you. I don't understand why you two have to make everything so complicated. See, that's your problem. You two assholes over think everything. That has always been your problem. You wanna sneak into each others rooms at night when we're on tour? Guess what? No one ever gave a fuck and we knew it was going to happen. Do I like Lindsey? Most of the time. There's one thing I'm sure of though. That man would take a fucking bullet for you and I don't know if I can say the same about his wife."

You rub your forehead and look at Christine again, "you know what? you're really fucking confusing me today."

"I love you. I don't want you get hurt but I also don't want you to forget him completely. He is the love of your life and you're the love of his. Why don't we just focus on that?"

"What about everything you said before?" You asked.

"Oh dear, you know how I just spew bullshit all the time. Some of it was true." She waves and goes to get ready and you're left wondering what to do.

You put your shoes on a grab a shawl and head downstairs to meet everyone,

"Well look who isn't late for once." Mick says.

You laugh, "shut up, old man."
