The circle erupts into a fit of teasing cheers when the bottle in the middle comes to a slow stop, eventually landing on Jeno.
The hockey player groans playfully, his smile that transforms his eyes into small crescents making Chaerin's heart swell. "You guys better not give me something stupid."
The group, which mostly consists of Jeno's jock friends, is seemingly incapable of giving out dares that aren't weird or straight up disgusting— Chaerin had had to witness one of the juniors, Sungchan, chug a mixture of beer, orange juice, and another suspicious looking liquid that resembled a lot like soy sauce down in one go.
Needless to say, she would very much rather stay in her spot and not get picked.
"I dare you," one of the other hockey members, Yangyang, started. "To kiss the prettiest girl in this room."
The circle hoots loudly, but even despite that, the sudden erratic beating of Chaerin's heart seems to be louder.
There are only two other girls in the circle apart from her— Daeun, whom she shares her Design Essentials elective with, and another junior whose name she doesn't know.
Chaerin raises her can to take another sip of her beer, needing something to do as she tears her gaze away from Jeno. Her eyes accidentally lands on Donghyuck just a few spots away from him, and she's surprised to see that he is already looking at her.
What? She raises her eyebrows, but the tanned boy merely shrugs before looking away.
The circle jeers once again when Jeno chugs down his drink, wiping his lips with the back of his hand— he had refused to complete the dare.
It made Chaerin's heart sink, but she quickly recomposes herself. What, had she been expecting him to kiss her? Get over yourself, Ko Chaerin!
"Pussy!" Someone from the circle boos, but Lee Jeno merely chuckles.
"C'mon, that's a bit mean, you guys."
"We all already know who you want to kiss." Yangyang raises his brows suggestively. "Just do it, bro."
The group continues to chant in support of Yangyang, and Jeno eventually breaks as he tilts his head back in a sigh. "I hate you guys."
Chaerin's heart is thundering against her chest as she looks at him, because deep down, she knows why.
And when she sees Lee Jeno turn to his left to press his lips again Kim Daeun's, she quickly lifts her can to chug the remnants of her drink, crushing the empty tin in her hand.
It's fine! Sure, she liked him a whole lot, and yes, he did say he liked being with her too, but come to think about it, maybe she had simply misinterpreted his words.
How foolish of her.
She accidentally meets Jeno's gaze, and she's surprised to see that he's looking at her apologetically.
