"You should go visit him."
Chaerin glances at her younger roommate before scoffing, crossing her arms. "I don't want to."
"You know you want to."
She keeps her gaze trained on a sleeping Yena, adamant in keeping her act up. Sera knew her inside and out, and that was the one thing that annoyed her the most.
"Rinnie, just go," Jaemin sighs. "Yena's not gonna wake up any time soon, so just go, okay? Stop acting like he isn't worrying you."
"He's not!" Chaerin exclaims. "I'm just worried about Yena, alright?"
"You can be worried about two people at once." Sera frowns. "Why don't you want to admit that you care about Lee Haechan more than you let on?"
Sera's statement manages to render Chaerin speechless, and it's due to the fact that she doesn't have an answer to that— she knows that Sera is right.
Still, she is the stubbornest of all mules. Even if she does care about Lee Donghyuck— just a teeny, weeny, tiny bit— so what? Nobody needs to know.
She glances at Jaemin, who in turn is staring her down as he awaits for a response.
Chaerin isn't scared of her stepbrother— she just hates it when he turns all serious, as opposed to his usual, goofy self, and right now is one of those times.
She sighs. "Fine. But only because it'll give you a peace of mind."
Jaemin scoffs. "Oh, I'll give you a piece of my mind alright."
Chaerin rolls her eyes as she stands up, dusting off her jeans as she does so. "If Yena wakes up, call me." She glares at her stepbrother. "I mean it."
"Just go, Chaerin."
She huffs. Jaemin only ever calls her by her real name when he's annoyed with her, and she doesn't like that— not like she would ever admit that out loud, anyway.
She decides to leave, going to the fifth floor once she gets into the elevator. For some reason, she's nervous, which is weird, because Ko Chaerin never gets nervous.
She could still recall the time she found out of the entire mess that is Neo Seoul— and how both Yena and Donghyuck had managed to get themselves involved when really, they shouldn't have been at all.
Chaerin had always been aware of Donghyuck's detective brother which is Kim Doyoung, but it annoys her to no end how he had the tendency to stick his nose into police business that isn't his.
Always so reckless. Always so selfless.
She finds herself standing before Donghyuck's ward, her eyes staring at her own reflection at the door. She could see her pin-straight cherry-coloured hair, now slightly unruly due to the number of times she had messed with it.
