By the time you woke up, it was still bright out, you blinked and started rubbing your eyes and looked to your left to see your friend was looking down the middle of the bus and then looked back at you, "well morning sleepy head. And before you ask no, we're not there yet. We just stopped at a gas station, and our teacher is telling us to stay close and stranger danger bla bla bla we can buy snacks. All that jazz." You responded with an "Ah," you nodded a bit sleepy. You shook your head side to side in hope that it would wake you up a bit as you grabbed your bag to put away the blanket and pillow, and also to grab your wallet in case you wanted some more snacks or a small souvenir.
It took a minute, but before you knew it, you and your friend were scanning down the aisle, looking for something interesting to get. Your mind aimlessly wanders the same place back and forth as if something new would magically make itself appear. But no, nothing new for you today. So you settled with just getting a few comfort snacks and a drink. After that, you paid for your things, and your teacher called you guys to make a line to get back on the bus.
As you sat down bored out of your mind, you put your headphones on and started to blast music in your ears. You looked out the window and pretended in your mind you were in a different situation than sitting on a bus, while your friend did whatever on their phone.
Honestly, you felt so bored on the bus that you forgot at least half of what was going on anymore. There were stops to eat, go to the bathroom, etc. Etc. It was all boring, and the sun was still up high in the sky. You didn't know if you started to miss your school or not, because on one hand, after a day at school you can go home and do literally anything. But at the same time, you would have to do school work and study for a test, so I guess there were some positives to being trapped in a bus that feels like an eternity.
— 7 hours later —
It took forever, but the sun was finally settling down, the sun leaving beautiful trails of orange, pink, and blue. You looked around the bus to see nearly everyone asleep. Only you and three other kids were awake along with your teacher. You looked at your friend, who was peacefully resting deep in sleep. You let them rest and stare out the window again. The night truly was a sight to behold. You don't think you could see the stars this clearly if you were back at home in your room. So you treasured those small moments in your mind.
After about 15 minutes, your eyes started to feel heavy, and sleep was coming to claim you. You let it, seeing as there was nothing else to do other than play the same old games on your phone. As you closed your eyes, you fell into a dreamless sleep.

The bus driver rubbed his tired eyes and looked up at the rearview mirror to see if anything was going on in the background but he saw all the kids were asleep including their teacher, so he turned his eyes back on the road not minding a thing. He keeps driving, trying not to let sleep consume him.
Just ahead when the road splits in two, a sign was in the middle, with an arrow pointing to the left with words about it saying "odd world" with a colorful ferris wheel that was hidden by a tall wall of rocks.
A black-gloved hand grabbed the arrow and spanned it to the right. Then they left.
The tired bus driver saw the sign pointed to the right and followed its directions, not noticing a "caution" sign.
He drove through the dark and bumpy road, and he slowly quietly wondered why the path was made of dirt and there were no other lights to see. Along with so many trees surrounding the place, he tried to push his concerns away, but the more he kept driving on the dirt road, the more bumps there were.
Some kids woke up from the bus's constant rattling and before anyone could properly ask any questions. The bus fell off a small cliff.
As the bus rolled forward everyone in the bus screamed in terror as the only person who was strapped to a seatbelt was the bus driver, everyone else was flying all over the place trying to hang on to something sturdy.
As the bus kept flipping, the front of the bus completely broke, and the glass shattered. Some kids fell out the window, and others held onto their seats for dear life,
After a few seconds of rolling the bus stopped right on top of its broken hood, the bus was in a vertical position with the end of the bus sticking straight up into the air while the front was buried in the ground.
Nobody dared to breathe or move, not until the bus started tilting sideways and a few kids let go in fear, all screams were cut short with a terrible sickening crunch. A few of the students who could move slowly crawled out of the bus. As they tried not to crawl over broken glass. Some students managed to crawl very far before pain decided to take over and rendered them motionless.
– – – 20 minutes later – – –
Someone in a black coat walked up to the crash site and started looking around the kids and checked to see if any of them had a pulse, he found a few still had a pulse but none of them moved.
The mystery person looked inside the bus to see if there was anyone else, but there appeared to be no survivors. A few kids were handing over the bus seats but their heads were twisted in the opposite direction of their bodys, they saw a bus driver strapped to his seat, his body slumped, and a teacher whose legs bent in all the wrong directions. They carefully crawled in the bus to check on the two bodies. They shook their head as they found no pulse on either person.
With that, they concluded their business and started to take the kids who were alive with them. They stepped out of the bus, and in front of them was a child who had a pulse. Out of everyone at the scene of the bus crash, they seemed to be the person with the least about of wounds,
They knelt down and picked the kid up bridal style and started walking in a direction in the dark woods, mentally making a note of how many people were still alive so they would come back for them. It seems that today's catch is much less than what they were expexpecting of the number of people to survive.
