I still reminisce about the old pages and chapters
How I felt when I wrote them, word for word
I still aspire to reread those lines
And not feel the burning sensation
Of discarding them all to Hell.
All those words and thoughts have been amended
Now I speak a new chapter to remember
As I look at him sometimes and wonder
How I managed to capture the definition of beauty
Courage
Compassion
In one glance that faded straight through me
I may struggle to find the right words
Idyllic enough to describe how you mean to me
Even though I spend most of my days with you
And those days are idyllic enough for me
Your affection disperses like wildflowers
As does your anger and excitement
Flourishing in the broken places
Where guilt and pity may lie and wait
Yet covering the cracked and barren ground
With light and colour and love
Prospering with contentment
I may struggle to flourish
Like how you unfurl like wildflowers in Spring
And yet I will still search
For those words that saturate your name in the brightest of lights
And accentuate your golden silhouette across the view
