Chapter 1

The ballroom was alive with music, as the ladies and gentlemen of the royal court danced with elegance and some of the younger ones of the back either spoke amongst themselves, or caused mischief. I so wished I could be out there mingling, but I can't. As a princess, it is frowned upon for me to speak to commoners. I hate that word, commoners. It's like they are not worthy to even look at us! In my eyes, we are all the same and when I am Queen, that will be the first rule to go.

"Elizabeth darling, how are you enjoying the party?" My mother asked me from her throne next to me.

"I'm having so much fun. There's nothing I enjoy more than watching people have a great time whilst my corset is suffocating me" I fake smiled, as my father chuckled, smirking at me as my mother glared.

"As a princess, it is your duty" She told me, sticking her nose in the air.

"Your mother is right you know cupcake" He told me.

"Well being a princess sucks" I muttered to myself, tucking some of my curled hair behind my ear.

Out of nowhere, a young man about my age walked up to the stage where we sat. He bowed to us and I bopped my head back in thanks, earning a glare from my mother. I don't see why she has to be so rude.

"Introducing Sir Cameron Squire, from the lightning pack" The guard announced him.

"Your royal Highness's, I wonder if I might be so bold as to formally ask for your daughters first dance" Cameron asked politely, getting back to his feet.

My father looked at me and so did my mother as I stared with pleading eyes.

"No" My mother said, as my Father said "yes" at the same time.

I beamed and curtseyed to him in thanks, rushing over to Cameron in excitement. He bowed to me and I curtseyed, beaming. He then walked us over to the dance floor as the waltz started playing. He took me into his arms and we slowly started gliding across the hall, as many others joined in.

"You're quite the dancer my lady" He told me, smiling.

I smiled back and giggled.

"My name is Lizzy. I don't like all of this formal stuff, it isn't me" I told him honestly, scrunching my nose up.

"You are a Princess, are you not?" He asked me.

"Indeed I am Sir, but that doesn't mean I have to like the life I was born into"

He grinned and nodded.

"I wish all royals were like you" He told me.

"Thankyou"

We then stopped and bowed to eachother, grinning as he walked me over to the drinks table. He poured me some fruit punch and passed me a glass and I took a sip.

"So, what made you come today?" I asked him, passing a little boy a cake that he couldn't reach. He smiled bashfully and ran off in the opposite direction with it.

"My Dad if I am honest. I don't usually do this kind of thing either"

"What made you ask me to dance?" I asked him.

"The fact you looked rather bored and I decided to save you" He shrugged, making me laugh.

"Thanks" I chuckled, putting my cup down.

We went to walk back over to my parents when the warning howl was signed, meaning we were under attack. Cameron straightened up and ran towards the front doors, along with some other of the males. Shrill screams sounded as I ran over to my parents, who looked easily as scared.

"Daddy what's happening?" I asked him, feeling vulnerable.

"Rogues. Delia, Elizabeth, you both must run do you understand me?" He ordered us both.

My mother nodded and fled for the back door and I stared at my father.

"Come with us" I told him, as the front window smashed through, making me jump.

"I said go, now!" He bellowed, his Alpha King command seeping through.

I whimpered and gave him a quick hug, running in the direction my mother went. I can't believe she didn't wait for me! Her own daughter!

"Mother?" I called, as I shrugged off my heels and picked up the skirt of my white dress so I could run better.

I had no reply as I started towards the woods. I heard the thud of heavy paw prints behind me, the smell of rotten flesh surrounding my senses. I almost gagged at the smell and willed my feet to move faster. The twigs ripped at my feet and tore at my dress as teats ran down my face.

"Shift Lizzy!" My wolf growled at me.

"I can't! They'll know I am a royal!" I sobbed at her, picking up my pace some more.

The scent finally went away, but i couldnt stop running. I had to get away.
After 6 hours of running. I collapsed near a little pond. I greedily drank some water and layed down, trying to catch my breath, my vision going blurry. I welcomed the darkness that followed...
