season two | episode five
alex's brother maximan

Dylan leans against her locker, sinking her teeth into bright green apple that's nearly the size of her head. She checked her wrist watch.

"Jo has been in the bathroom for ten minutes, what do you think he's doing in there?" She watched as Sydney sketches her eating her apple. "Selling vapes, every day I lose more and more respect for that buffon." She rubbed her finger on the edges to smooth them out.

"I respect him, he's just trying to make some cash." Dylan's teeth seemed to shake with every bite she took, the apple felt ice cold. "Him doing that is just about as cool as Russo passing us every five minutes so you'll notice her." Sydney doesn't look up from her drawing as Alex passes them for the sixth time, Dylan has been keeping track.

"Let's spice things up." Sydney whispers to herself, leaning over, and tugging her wand out of her boot but keeping it there when she whispers into the wind.

When Alex walks past them for the seventh time when she slips on a banana peel but before she can hit the ground, Dylan grabs her arm, keeping her off the ground and roping her in, the girl turns bright red with embarrassment.

"Oh my God." Alex took in a deep breath, steadying herself. "Where did that even come from?" She looks down as Dylan picks up the banana peel, tossing it in the trash. She had a sneaky suspicion of where that came from as she shot daggers towards her friend.

"Maybe it's just your luck, if you didn't slip, I wouldn't have caught you." Dylan smiled, it was obvious Alex Russo had a crush on her, a blind person wouldn't be able to miss it. She tries to hide it but her attempts were weak at best. "And I wouldn't be asking you what you're doing this Friday night?" without looking, Dylan tosses her apple towards the trash, Sydney moving the bin so she doesn't miss it. She was watching her friend's conversation as if her life depended on it.

"Full schedule but maybe if your plans are interesting enough, I can make some room for you." Alex smirked, one hand behind her back as she fidgeted with the ends of her hair that was down for the first time in a long time. She did it to help with the nerves, she would hate for Dylan to know how fast her heart was beating in her chest that moment.

"I was thinking of going bowling but my friends suck at it and if they can't be there, I'd really want to go with you."

"So it would be a first date?"

"I suppose, unless you don't want that." Alex seemed to think about it for a moment. "No." her answer surprised Dylan, she thought Alex would kill to go anywhere with her but maybe her ego was simply a little inflated. Maybe Alex didn't like her as much as she thought she did.

"No?"

"No," Alex started walking away and Dylan looked over her shoulder. That was her first rejection ever, but lucky for her as she turned, Jo walked out of the bathroom. "You're an expert at this, how do you deal with rejection?" she walked to her friend's side who was immediately taken back by the question.

"What?"

"Don't play dumb."

"Just go after her." Jo looked over the shorter girl's shoulder where she could see Alex at her locker, clearly waiting for Dylan to run after her. "She wants you to." he couldn't believe how stupid his friend was. "But I guess a girl's never played hard to get with Dylan Evans." Jo started but Dylan had already turned around and was starting to walk away.
