IMEE's POV
We are now at the gate of Malacañang para manumpa dahil nanalo ako as Senator last election. It was quite unusual dahil first time manumpa ng mga Senators sa loob mismo ng palasyo and it's all because of my President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He was the reason why I run for this position, dahil daw marami akong matutulungang Pilipino kung nasa Senado ako. I hesitated because of my family background but PRRD reassured that everything will be fall into places and here I am now taking an oath in front of the President as a Senator.
Ika nga ng Mommy Meldy " Imee, Salamat sa Diyos at di ka dinaya" haha well don't ask me kung saan ako nagmana. It feel surreal that I am standing again at the staircase of Malacañang feeling the ambiance that I missed for such a very long time. As I walk through, some changes but a lot have stayed as it is. Walking beside my mother and my siblings makes me emotional.
"Daddy, here we are again. We are back at the Palace , same old us but without you. I hope I made you proud" I whisper to myself.
"Your Daddy Macoy's so proud to all of you, kahit di pa tayo makabalik dito he was already proud of you and he will always still in heaven" Mommy Meldy said as she caress my back. " He will always be proud of his ' darling genius of a girl '".
Mommy really knows how to comfort me with her words. I showed her my smile and continue walking the isle until to the function room where the oath-taking will be held. Minutes later the event have started and it's time for the oath-taking.
" I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God. " ( Author: You all knew what happened here HAHA chigidig my heart, shabaay-shabaay tayong mag-reminisce at malundag sa nakaw na tingin ni Manang kay PRRD ) HAHAA
As I say the words " So help me God " my eyes were fixed to a fine lady standing in the left wing of the hall beside the door carefully observing us. While looking at her I remember one person, Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. her way of standing, a little bit of gestures, and her smile, she remind me of my father. Elliez Ameery Z. Duterte reminds me so much of my father. I smiled at her but as soon as she met my eyes, she slowly walk away and disappeared.
And, the rest is history ... chosssss, sa event lang.
The President invited us over dinner, a little celebration daw kung baga at wag kayong issue dyan! Kaming lahat na nanalo as Senators inimbitahan niya, sino naman kami para tumanggi sa grasya. HAHA
As everyone are busy congratulating each other and the staffs are preparing the hall for the said dinner, I secretly went to the hall where all of the former President's portraits are located. I stood in front of the portrait whom I knew so much and whom I missed so much, my Father.
" All credits to you Dad, if it wasn't your strong influence ... and Rodrigo's too, I wouldn't be here " I talked to the portrait.
Malamang sa malamang kung may makakakita sakin dito iisiping baliw ako kasi nakikipag-usap ako sa litrato HAHA.
