Sixteen

Mina's body felt heavy. She felt this huge pressure surrounding her along with darkness. Her eyelids fluttered open as she almost gasps. Keyword, almost. Her body was floating underwater. Looking around, she tried to find some sort of light.

What the hell? she thought.

She kept looking around until she spotted a strange figure. Her brows furrowed as the figure swam toward her. Tilting her head to the side, the younger Hale looked confused. The figure kept getting closer and closer. When the stranger looked up, Mina began to panic when purple eyes met hers. That's when she remembered that Lex dragged her underwater. He found her and he's going to kill her. Mina began swimming toward the surface. She's not going to dye tonight.

Lex did catch up to her though. Grabbing her ankle, he yanked her back. Mina's eyes glowed red before she flicked her claws out and swiped his wrist. Lex grits his teeth in pain as he lets go. Using that opportunity, Mina continues to swim. She could feel her lungs burning from the lack of oxygen.

Her foot landed on something solid, indicating that she was near land. Mina let out a huge breath as she reached top of the lake. Doubling over, she began coughing and spitting out whatever lakewater entered her mouth.

"Ugh, I'm gonna throw up," she coughed before she spat more.

Right behind her, Lex flew out of the lake. His gigantic dark wings that blended into the night created this huge gust of wind that nearly knocked Mina off her feet. His purple eyes glowed as he landed a few feet behind Mina. A sadistic smirk plastered on his face.

"You know how much trouble you've caused me, Mina Hale?" Lex asked as his wings retracted to his back."I've been searching from city to city to find you. All those people I've killed just to get here."

"And you know how many of your lackies I've killed to get away from you?" Mina retorted. She smirked. "Just ask Trevor. Oh, wait, you can't. He met up with someone named My Foot In His Skull."

"What happened to Trevor was...tragic, but I do have other disposable resources. All of them are more powerful than Trevor. So, tell me, how was your family reunion? Was it a happy one?" Lex snapped his fingers. "Oh, wait. You don't remember any of them. It is incredibly odd that you would put your trust in a bunch of strangers."

"I don't trust anyone."

"Really? Then do you usually have sex in a random stranger's Jeep?" Mina clenched her fist as she glared at Lex. "What was his name? Stiles? Who the hell names their kid Stiles anyway?"

"You were watching, perv?" Mina sneered.

"Well, you were having sex in the middle of the road, so it wasn't that hard to miss. But the chemosignals radiating off you two was -" Lex blew a chef's kiss. "- exquisite. The smell was truly divine. When you've been around long as I have, it's rare to see that kind of love. And that's what makes the killing more fun."

A low erupt in Mina's throat. "You're not going to kill Stiles."

Lex placed a hand over his heart and pretended it hurt his feelings. "Me? Kill Stiles? No. No, no, no, no." He slowly stalked toward Mina. "Where's the fun in that? It'll be more fun watching you do it."

"You're delusional if you think for one second that I'm going to put my hands on him."

"You kinda did when you..." Lex trailed off as he held his pointer finger up with one hand and made a circle with his thumb and another finger on his other hand before sliding the circle up and down the first finger. "Didn't think you had it in you to mark him either. Claws and all."

"Like I said, you're disgusting."

Lex sighed before leaning down 'til he was at eye level with the girl. "I wasn't talking about physically hurting him." He pointed toward Mina's head. "Emotionally. You usually don't stay in town that long after I find you. So imagine his heartache when he finds you gone?" He went into deep thought before nodding. "Come to think of it, maybe it is better if I kill him. Unless...you leave town with me."
