Week 2

When the bell for lunchtime rang, someone behind me swiftly grabbed my hand and my bento box and rushed me out of the classroom. At first, I thought it was Osorō, and adrenaline started coursing through me, but glancing at the tall, tan figure leading me through the halls proved me wrong — it was Aso Rito.

I'd never noticed it before, but Aso didn't wear the school's black and red blazer. Instead, all he had was a yellow jacket tied around his waist.

"A-Aso, where are we—?"

"Shh," he hissed, cutting me off. I sighed, allowing him to lead me on without trying to say another word.

Eventually, he pushed open the doors to the school roof, stopping to sit at a bench that was positioned somewhat out of the way. The secludedness of it tinted my cheeks pink as I sat down next to him.

Before I could ask him anything, he began interrogating me. "Are you okay? That delinquent isn't threatening you, is he?"

I blinked. "Huh?"

"You looked kinda uncomfortable when that jerk kept touching your hair. Are you alright?"

"O-oh," I muttered. I hesitated, considering what I should say that could test my potential compatibility with Aso without also ruining the bond I was forming with Osorō.

Because it wasn't that I didn't want to be involved with Osorō; I did, and besides, it was too late to not be involved with him since he knew my darkest secret. The difference was that being romantically involved with him was out of the question, so I needed to focus my attention elsewhere before it was too late.

"No, it's nothing like that, I promise," I finally said. "I just... wasn't expecting that from someone like him, I guess. I don't know why he has an interest in me; I've only run into him once."

Aso nodded, seeming to accept my words as a logical explanation. "Just be careful around him; he's dangerous. Promise me, okay?"

Trust me, Aso, I know. "I promise."

He smiled. "Thanks. Now, let's eat!"

He handed me my bento box and opened his. We ate in a comfortable silence at first, until he asked, "So, you joined the drama club last Friday, right?"

I nodded. "Yeah. I thought it was the best club for me."

"I understand, though I am kinda bummed you didn't join my club," he added, smirking and elbowing my side playfully.

I giggled. "Sorry. I'm not very athletic."

He shrugged. "And that's alright. Not everyone is, but I do hope you'll come watch us some time. Right now, we're preparing for a track meet, but we're also practicing for a basketball skirmish we have scheduled next weekend against the sports club at Shisuta High School."

"Well, let me know when that game is," I said, elbowing him. "If I have time, I'll try to come."

He grinned. "Absolutely. It's next Saturday."
