The first thing I remembered was waking up, and opening my eyes. Light immediately burned my retinas, and I closed my eyes again quickly, rubbing at them as I sat up. I opened my eyes again, and looked around at the bright endless fields of vibrant green grass. Patches of flowers littered the field, like the patch I was currently sitting in. I knew this was a dream. It was clear, as I was unsure of how I would get here in real life.

I stood, the grass brushing at my bare feet and getting between my toes as I turned around in circles, trying to find anything important. Nothing.

I looked around again and noticed her. She was beautiful, with long blond hair and vibrant green eyes. She stood there smiling at me, and brought her hand up, gesturing for me to come over to her.

Slowly, I walked over, and she wrapped me in a hug. "My little boy" She said, her voice quiet "You've grown so much."

We stayed like that, with me leaning on her, my face buried into her shoulder. "I missed you so much my baby boy," She told me, and her hands reached up to cup my face and lift my head up to meet her eyes.

"I'm so proud of you" She muttered and ran her hands through my hair, brushing out the knots and smoothing the ruffled brown strands. But then she stopped, her fingers tangled in my hair. "I have to go. He's coming"

She reached into her pocket and grabbed something from it, pushing it into my hands.

"Stay safe my little bee," She said, and she pressed a kiss to my forehead. I opened my mouth, a little sound escaping my lips as she reached up and forced my eyes closed. It took a second, but suddenly heat surrounded me, nausea growing in my stomach.

I opened my eyes to look around me, and I felt my heart skip a beat as I looked around at the darkness that surrounded me, lava bubbling around my feet at the edges of the stone brick my feet barely fit on.

I wasn't sure where I was. I just knew I didn't like it.

A woosh of warm air blew past me and I struggled to stay on the brick as I was forced back, my heels dipping slightly into the lava. I hissed in pain and tears starting to form in my eyes as I looked up where the air came from, being greeted only by glowing red eyes that sparkled with amusement as they looked down at me.

"You? You're the chosen hero?" The voice filled the darkness, more air pushing me back as it laughed, the sound filling the air sending my body into the same panic I would feel if I was listening to nails on a chalkboard. "I have a feeling I'll enjoy watching you die"

I wanted to respond, maybe to prove this thing that I wasn't weak, but my throat seemed to close up in the warm air and the nausea in my stomach grew aggressively. I couldn't bring myself to respond. I felt like I would throw up if I spoke.

The thing laughed again, and I could feel the darkness tighten around me. I gagged as the nausea grew worse, and the laughter just grew in volume, filling the darkness and making my ears ring loudly as my chest tightened.

"Good luck little hero"

One second, darkness had taken over my vision, and I couldn't feel anything. The next, I could feel a comfortable cushion mattress under me, and I could see lights from behind my eyelids. My alarm blared in the background, filling the room with the loud screams.

I sighed and slammed my hand onto my alarm clock, finding the stop button and turning off my alarm. As soon as the alarm was off, I opened my eyes, pulling my sweaty shirt off of my chest, my breathing quick and shallow.

Even with the sweat dripping from my body, I was cold, the air conditioned air an uncomfortable change from the intense heat I was suffering from only minutes before. I could hear my phone buzzing on the table beside me, but I ignored it, closing my eyes and curling myself into a ball on my side, hugging a pillow close to my chest as I tried to fall asleep again. I hated whatever dark room I had been put into, but I wanted to see my mom again.
