"Are we almost there?" I ask, picking my nails. A nervous habit of mine.
"It's only been two minutes. Just three more minutes until we're there. Excited?" F/N says, keeping her focus on the road.
"Yep! Why wouldn't I be?" I chuckle, resting my head in my hand, looking out the window.
We were currently driving past a couple neighborhoods, the cement road soon turning into gravel as we reach the forests parking lot. People like to drive and then park here, as this place was a hot spot for hikes and trails. Along with the wilderness sightings if you're lucky. Well, when it's not so dark at least.
As we're parking I look around. The trees around a dark forest green, you could smell the mix between the pine and cedar wood. The moon, which was indeed full and bright illuminated the woods, giving it an eerie yet calming look. The night sky was clear and filled with stars. The little and Big Dipper could be seen amongst them, twinkling in the dark ink black color of the night. The forest was voluminous, filled with different trees, flowers, herbs and animals. I heard there was even bears here. No one has seen any though, of course they might have been dead if they did. The forest was pretty huge too, if it weren't for the trails you could be lost within five seconds of stepping into the lush green environment. There was an occasional flutter of a birds, perhaps an owls, wings as they fly, crickets chirping the the grass.
The parking lot was empty apart from the not so bright light of F/N headlights as we air in the car and wait for the others to arrive. The gravel, with closer inspection was full grey. The normal color of gravel. Small seeds like dandelions and horsetail littered the lot, the small flowers that could've grown smashed from the various car tires as they drive over it, trying to find a place to park or maybe even parking.
The crunching of the gravel, of which I was looking at, alerts me from my inner thoughts, 'Time to get this show on the road.' I think to myself as Elijah's bright headlights shine beside us, turning off not even a minute later. Hopping out of the car the gravel crunches beneath of feet as F/N and I get out of her Mazda CX-9. Mia and Elijah getting out of his Jeep Wrangler.
"Ready to get this started ladies?" He asks, rubbing his hands together.
"Yep, also you were right F/N it is pretty chilly out here!" Mia exclaims, grabbing onto Elijah's arm.
"Alright! I have the Ouija board in the trunk! Do you think you could grab it?" F/N turns to me.
'God dang it F/N. I have to hold it!?' I sigh as I open the trunk, reluctantly grabbing the wooden board, balancing it carefully as I close the trunk.
"Alright! Now that we have everyone here, and the Ouija board, ready for the best night of our lives?"
Beat night of our lives is an overstatement. Maybe most demonic though." I mutter under my breath as I look at the board. I can feel the negative energy radiating off this thing and I'm not even a medium or empath!
We make our way deeper into the forest. As we get deeper in the forest get darker, way more eerie than in the parking lot. The moon and trees work together to cast shadows inhuman to us. In shapes they shouldn't even be able to make!
"Why are we doing this again?" I ask, jogging to catch up with the three of them.
"Why wouldn't we? We're teenagers Y/N! Live a little!" F/N asks, looking around the forest.
"Oh I certainly will live a little if we actually accomplish this. I wonder, you think I'll go to heaven or hell?" I question, raising my voice a little bit at the end.
"You're overreacting! We aren't dying tonight. Chill. Like F/N said, love a little. Let loose!" Elijah says, doing weird hand motions near the end.
"Okay. Never do those motions again. Those were just...weird." Mia says, expression blank as she looks at her boyfriend.
