There it was, a half representation of the KEJX-8 radio station. As if the hand of god came down and removed just a portion of the building and placed it here. The twelve-story main building still stood fully intact. The three-story secondary building's far left side is gone, and the four-story parking lot is nowhere in sight. Besides the main building, there is an intact auxiliary building, which serves as a warehouse. A half-missing entrance leads into the secondary structure from the main entrance. The thirteen iconic radio towers strategically placed around the mountain still stand tall, as if nothing has changed. 'If we could somehow move this entire place with magic, it might end up being a game changer for this world. This area seems to have less travel than one would expect. I'll make a mental note about teleportation magic.'
In front of the station, dozens of vehicles populate the parking lot. Many of them are off-road truck types or SUVs. 'That makes sense to me because most employees live in rural areas, and capable transportation is part of our society. They could be useful here as well. I'll make a mental note about this as well.' I notice the number of vehicles in the parking lot and see Minah's silver SUV sitting in her designated parking spot. Besides hers, I also notice Marie's blue SUV and Amanda's dual-cab truck. Next, I recognize another vehicle in the parking lot to the right of the main entrance. The red off-road SUV belongs to the station's owner, if I'm not mistaken. Someone I knew well, a young woman around the age of Minah. As a kid, I got to know her well, and she inherited her father's business when she was a teenager. During the struggles of the others, I did not see her. Her vehicle door didn't open, and neither did the others. 'All locked!' That means they didn't have time to reach them. Finally, I noticed another vehicle at the entrance of the station. 'That one belongs to the manager, Kelly, and Cathy's friend? Wasn't she on vacation till next Friday?'
It sat next to the missing part of the main entrance. As it turns out, the parking lot in front of the station is intact with every vehicle parked there. The three of us did our best not to make too many noises before entering the main entrance. Broken glass litters the floor of the lobby. The inside looks clear, and I see no signs of anyone still being there. Aside from the glass shards from the radio studio, it's eerily quiet. The lights are still on as the station had multiple power generators in the basement and solar panels covering all roofs. 'The attack came quickly.' They must have been expecting them. At least those Templars did not hurt them in the struggle. That left Cathy Wells. Her vehicle is here, and I can only assume she was part of the summoning. I need to find her, too.
We venture farther into the station, passing down a long hallway to the main building. As we grew closer, I saw the double doors were wide open. We enter the main office floor, and I notice the two elevators at each end. My eyes locate the four stairwells that give access to the upper floors. As we walk into the large office, I make mental notes of each exit. Across the office floor, I saw a door leading to the break room was still closed. 'Can Cathy be here alone? If I found myself alone, I would stay where I thought help would come at first. After the attacks, she may even be too afraid to leave the station.'
The upper floors are mainly more offices and studios. A second office floor like this is on the ninth floor, but most survivors would only be there if they were already there. So I had to assume that all the employees had gathered on the first floor shortly before the attack. I grab the handle with one hand. For a moment, I hope it's not unlocked. Then, I take a deep breath and turn the knob, but it's locked, as I suspected. 'Looks like I might be right.'
"Hello... Cathy??? Are you in there?" I asked.
It only took a few moments to receive a response.
"J-John Thomas??? Is that you?" a feminine voice asked.
