Grey clouds stormed the sky, flooding the blue sky and drowning out its colour. Large drops of rain poured from the sky, mourning. A clap of thunder echoed around the city of Paris. The Eiffel Tower should have lit up by now, but the city was too occupied with mourning that someone forgot to illuminate it for the city to see. Tourists would be disappointed, but residents would understand. Cars drove past in a hurry to leave the storm, splashing water on people running to leave the storm. The moon remained in the darkness of the clouds, no longer fighting the rain, but rather joining them. The rain fell fast. The rain fell hard.

The Sun had trusted the Moon. They were an unstoppable duo. Light and darkness, forever and ever. Where the Moon lacked, the Sun shone brightly. Where the Sun couldn't keep her head up anymore, the Moon shone a light in her darkness to guide her back to the light. They had each other. The Moon loved the Sun. The Moon adored the Sun. And the Sun valued the Moon. The Sun loved the Moon in her own way. Yet, without warning, the Moon blocked the Sun. The Moon stopped depending on the Sun. The Moon turned its back to the Sun and tried to shine without her. The Sun was never given a reason why. The Sun was left fighting with the Moon for the light. And their trust was torn.

Marinette felt her knees buckle as she lost the last ounce of strength in her body. Her umbrella covered her from the rain, but with her legs dropping to the flooding path, it was useless. She dropped the umbrella, her hands losing the strength to carry anything anymore. Tears ran down her face. She could no longer tell the difference between tears and rain falling down her face. All she knew was her broken heart that no one could repair. It had been stabbed, battered and shot. Nothing could fix the heartbreak she was experiencing. She tried to fight it, she tried to stop it - to stop him. Her clothes stuck to her skin, soaking from the sky's tears. Something they shared in common - her and the sky. Both mourned a loss.

Sobs escaped her mouth as all she could see was the back of her partner. His blonde, messy hair facing her rather than his warm, green eyes.
"Chat Noir... what's going on?" she had asked, eyes widening in fear as she watched her crime-fighting partner step away from her.

She blinked, trying to fight the memories from creeping back in. She wanted to stay strong, remain brave. But she couldn't do it.
"I'm sorry, Ladybug," he mumbled, facing the railing of the Eiffel Tower. Facing the city of Paris. But, he turned his back to his partner, and now he'd turn his back to the world.

Her hands were trembling, the rain pressuring her into remembering. She didn't want to remember.
"I've been made an offer I can't refuse, m'lady," he said, turning back to face her. "And it will change things between us."

Fighting was arduous. She was tired.
"Chat Noir, why is Shadowmoth behind you?" she had whispered, her hand reaching for her yoyo as she started piecing the words and the actions together.

She continued to weep, everyone running past her ignoring her. The tears kept flowing, and she gave in to those emotions.
"Chat Noir and I have come to an agreement," Shadowmoth had said with a wide grin as he held onto his staff. Ladybug's eyes searched her partner's for an answer, but the adoration in his eyes had been replaced with a hatred.
"What agreement?" she asked, swinging her yoyo around in a defensive position.
"We both share a goal now," Shadowmoth said, stepping forwards.
"You just need to hand us your miraculous, and there will be no trouble," Chat Noir had said in agreement, reaching for his baton. Ladybug shook her head.
"What could be more important than protecting the city?" Ladybug asked, stepping backwards.
"You wouldn't understand," Chat Noir said firmly, readying himself for battle. "What is your answer?"
"You and I both know I can't give you my miraculous," Ladybug answered. Chat Noir looked at Shadowmoth, who nodded his head.
