Paul was the only one to get back up, so the two of them moved them to the next destination while the other four rested.
The next town was welcoming, but it had evil lurking. Paul knew because that evil made a grab at him. While they couldn't grab him, they did grab Max. Paul's aura destroyed any that remained before he dropped, Mlm getting to his side instantly.

The others were alerted instantly. Ash was steadying Paul while Qidorr tracked them to the nearby base.

Max was still out when they got in there. Eyrin and Qidorr led the charge and destroyed the fiends while Paul and Ash defended Mlm as he got to the unconscious boy. They then traded spots when they escaped.

No one told Max what happened. They had dinner like normal and he didn't question a thing.
But he knew. He just stayed quiet to see how long they would go before he said anything.
