Sushi doesn't sound bad

Run. That’s all I can do. Run until I can’t, run until I outrace the wind. I don’t dare look back, it’s all I can do to keep running. If I just compiled and did what was told of me, maybe I wouldn’t be in this situation.

“Why do you bother running Frisk? It’s getting tedious now.” That disgusting, slimy voice called after me. It didn’t matter, I knew where I was going. He didn’t. Running faster now, I started to take sharp turns, but this nightmare would never let me run fast enough to escape.

Every turn I took was a long never-ending hallway. Everything suddenly got slower until nothing moved no matter how hard I tried. Suddenly a hand gripped my shoulder and I woke up. It wasn’t the shoot-up and gasp waking up. It was the wake where you are irritated that you can’t stop having the same dream repeatedly. Angrily sighing I flopped over and looked at the clock. No way I had woken up 5 minutes before my alarm.

Cursing everything, I debated whether or not to sleep in the extra 5 minutes I had left or to get it over with. Grumbling, I brought myself out of the bed and did the normal routine before getting ready for the day. Going out and reacting with people was fine until it wasn’t. Weighing my decisions on whether I should stay home or go out for no reason was heavily outweighed by staying home. But as usual, before that was set in stone, I was reminded that being an adult sucks and that bills were higher than my life.

Walking to my car felt exhausting, but going out and talking was the cherry on top for me. Everyone wanted to complain, moan, and blame it on me even. Quitting seemed nice, being homeless wasn’t too bad, I could always go out and live in the forest like a hermit.

After my shift ended I headed straight home. I had no plans and no plans to make with someone. It didn’t bother me, I would always be too tired to go through with it. I did wonder from time to time what it would be like, and it seemed nice. But no one wanted to and I didn’t either. Tossing my shoes to the side as flopping on the couch felt like a dream come true. It was only 6 pm on a Saturday but sleep felt like a party to me.

Brushing my teeth and putting everything away I opened the door to my room. I froze looking at the gap underneath my bed. I swore something moved under there. I used to laugh at bedtime stories of monsters under beds but now I gave little concern. Mentally preparing myself to see rats in the morning, I climbed into bed and stared at the wall. I felt like crying but I didn’t know why, either I was numb or just going along. Shrugging my shoulders I turned on a show with a timer before turning to the wall and falling asleep.

“If I have the same blasted dream again, I'm going to start…doing something, I'm not sure yet,” I murmured to myself, softly as I felt sleep arrive.

This was not the dream I was expecting, because, for some reason, I was fully aware I was in a dream. But this place was just black. It resembled a void, dark and empty. I just sat down, waiting for myself to wake up.

“It’s quite rude to ignore someone, don’t you think Darling?” a deep voice behind me spoke. The voice sounded amused but quite cautious. Ignoring the shivers, I turned around to be met with a blackish, dark green/blue skeleton that had multiple tentacles. An eye was covered in what looked to be goo dripping down his face, but it never left the area of that one eye. Before I knew it, I respond in the most sarcastic way ever. Well too bad I never got to live in that house in the forest.

“Well, you don’t look important enough to be acknowledged so I think I’ll return to what I was doing before,” I said. His face looked shocked before an amused grin spread out across it.

“Well, aren’t we full of spunk, Darling? I like this part of you, very lively.” He purred. This jerk. Looking at him, I got up, turned around, and just started to walk away. Obviously, he didn’t expect that because the next thing I heard was an offended gasp and hurried footsteps trying to catch up with me. Things surrounded my brain like a record on repeat. Where was I? Who was the weird k̶i̶n̶d̶a̶ ̶h̶o̶t̶ skeleton? Finally giving up, I stole a glance at the skeleton next to me to find that he was already staring at me. Rolling my eyes I stopped and crossed my arms, facing him I sized him up and gestured to everything.

“Alright then, 3 questions. First, who are you? Second, where am I? Third, what's the deal with the tentacles?” I huffed. He stood a moment before taking a step closer. He towered over me by at least a foot. Smirking he lowered his head before he answered.

“Well Darling, the names Sans but I prefer Nightmare if you please, but you can call me anything you desire. Secondly, you’re in what others like to call the void, or rather my space. Lastly, the tentacles are part of me so nothing more can be said unfortunately Darling,” He breathed out. Nightmare was alluring as well as mystifying in such a way that I couldn’t help but be drawn to him. Tilting my head towards him, I opened my mouth but as soon as I said the first vowel, I was awake. Looking at my clock made me realize that I was awake before my alarm again…THAT JERK! Oh, he better be ready because the next time I see him, I'll skin him alive, cut him up, and serve him as sushi before feeding him to the fish.

“Just wait Nightmare, I'm going to boil you alive,” I seethed as I threw my covers off, getting ready for the day.

“I’ll be awaiting you, Darling.”
