Author's pov:
It was jisung's 18th birthday by that time, the thaught of becoming an adult was very exciting, a lot of things would gradually change in the boy's life, and he was looking forward to them, except for one only thing that he felt quite unsure about.
The thing is that the squirrel boy was already informed by his mom that she was seeing that man called 'Byungho Chung' for over the past 7 months, she would always talk about her dates with him and just how kind and considerate he was, for jisung, as long as his mom was happy and getting over his dad's loss, he was happy, because he knew, that it wasn't that easy of a process for her to do so, even if she didn't actually totally forget about him, he was her first love afterall.
Jisung was nervous, it was his first time meeting the so called kind and considerate man his mom would always blabber on and on about, what if he was a bad person? Or a bully? He couldn't forget about his curse as well.
The boy was in the living room, sitting on the couch as he played his favourite game on his cracked screen phone, he was waiting for his mom to come back with his favourite cheesecake, a bit nervous because she said that byungho would be coming with her to celebrate jisung's birthday, including meeting him for the first time.
The bell rang, signaling the brunette for his mother's arrival, he reluctantly stood up from his comfortable position and put his phone down, then eventually opened the front door, receiving two warm smiles towards him, first thing he did was examine the male's features, eyeing him up and down, and forgetting to return the smile, until his mom intentionally coughed, bringing him back to reality, he tried to fake the biggest smile he could and gestured for them to come in.
"Jisung, meet byungho I think you already know who he is since I've been talking about him a lot" Ms.han introduced, "and this is jisung, my lovely son, i hope you guys get along! I've waited for this moment for a long time!" She added, signaling for the two to shake hands, so they did. Neither of them avoided the other's eyes while sharing a firm handshake, in wich the older wouldn't let go even though the 'timelimit' ended, jisung's mom seemed oblivious to the situation as she announced that she would go prepare the tools and dishes for the birthday party, leaving the two behind.
Jisung awkwardly pulled his hand away, not trying to be rude afterall, then the older spoke "so you're jisung! Haneul really does talk about you a lot..you really look like her, haha i guess that beauty runs through the family!"
"Aha! Yeah.. thank you.." jisung unpleasantly replied, already feeling uncomfy because of the conversation, thankfully his mom called for the two to go sit at the table. The brunette rushed there, giving his mom a sweet grin before sitting down.
Time skip:
Now was time for jisung to receive gifts, like every year, his mom would always spoil him with presents, so he would never feel the absence of his dad.
Jisung got a hoodie, sweatpants, and new white sneakers, just the casual style he would wear, his mom knew him well, too well even, " here, i think this one would be your favourite " she handed her son the gift, jisung was delighted to see that it was actually a new phone, he jumped on his mum giving her the biggest hug, after he thanked her, she spoke "there's also another thing i would like to announce to you son".
The boy pulled away, waiting for his mom to continue, so she did " me and Byungho are getting married soon!!"
jisung was taken aback by the sudden news, he knew if his mom loved him, that meant he was a good person, but after he met him, he wasn't so sure, getting mixed feeling about the man in question. But what could he do? It was his mom's choice and he would support her at all costs.
He tried to hide his reluctance by faking a smile and congratulating them.

A few days passed and byungho would often come by at haneul's (jisung's mom) house, jisung tried to pay no mind to it, but that was until the latter started acting weird with him, mostly when his mom wasn't around preparing lunch or whatever.
At first, Jisung felt that the elder's gaze towards him in these situations was very intense it made him want to bury himself in a hole, he would usually just pretend to be focused on his phone as if nothing was happening, but today was different, he'd had enough of all the creepy stares.
"Um, d-do you need something?"
"No? Not really, why?"
"Well.. you were staring at me so i figured.. you needed something"
"You just really remind me on your mom, you both have such gorgeous features"
Jisung didn't expect that the older would actually spit out these words which he would probably describe as concerning, to say the least.
"Well Mr.Chung, since you and my mother are getting married soon, it must be very delightful for you to be able to admire her beauty everyday, i see you really do love her to the point of contemplating what would resemble her, but instead of that, i think it would be even more reasonable and enjoyable to go and look for the person itself, mom is not that far afterall, she's just in the kitchen".
Jisung calmly pointed out, he didn't want to directly say "fuck off, dont look at me" to the elder, so he ended up giving a speech, but who cares, he was proud of it anyways.
