Interview with DayThinkers

Me: Good day! I'm Faith ❣️.
I'm a writer on Wattpad. I am working on having interviews with authors of different genres and compiling the interviews into a book.
I am requesting to interview you for the LOTR section of the book.
It would be superb if I could ask you a couple of questions.
I hope to receive your reply in due time.
Cheers!

Day Thinkers: Hi Faith. I'm happy to answer any questions to my best ability and to the extent I'm comfortable with. Your request kinda surprised me,it means a lot to know my work has made an impression (: .

Me: Thank you so much.
       Okay here are my questions.
When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?

Day Thinkers:Probably during 2020 lockdown. I'd never really seen the effect my writing could have on people, and after some encouragement from a few writers in Wattpad,I started publishing chapters of a book I'd been working on for three years. The positive feedback and general acceptance for a queer identifying character, helped me realize writing is something I really enjoy and will carry on as long as I can. I want to write books and characters younger me would have wanted to see,so I'm always aiming to add more inclusive character into my writing.

Me: What do you think makes a good writer?

Day Thinkers: A good writer is a bit of a vague idea. I think as long as a writer is willing to learn in the broad aspect of everything and respects others in both life and their work, that helps towards being a good writer. And that's what I aim to be.

Me: What inspired you to write " The Night Wanderer "?

Day Thinkers: lord of the rings has been a hyper fixation of mine for years and I did quite a bit of lore research before having a vague idea for a character. I then took some inspiration from a hiking trip in Switzerland about the place the character comes from and combined it together.

Me: What was one of the most surprising things you learned while creating your book?

Day Thinkers: This is gonna sound a bit silly, but that people enjoy my writing. I have never had confidence in my abilities in most things and I still don't but during the lockdown in 2020,I interacted with some motivating writers on Wattpad and other platforms who said they wanted to read my work after I asked them for some writing advice. I have a tendency to only get a few chapters into a book before not publishing any more,so to see ' The Night's Wanderer' grow so much was shocking. And comments where people have told me they're literally in class reading the newest update always surprises me,but u adore those comments and all positive feedback so much.

Me: You have a unique character:Morel/Morrandir. Could you tell me a little bit about how and why you created them?

Day Thinkers: After reading a lot of books on Wattpad,I realized there's very little representation for people who use more than one selection of pronouns. I wanted to write a story with a non-binary/gender- fluid character, which I knew not everyone would like and have seen those opinions commented in my book, but I know for some people this is some of the little representation they'll see. I wanted to write a story younger me would have admired as I never saw representation of character outside of gender binary growing up.
I then considered the social norms between a male and female presenting character. Some careers would not be accepted, like a female presenting character travelling freely with little harassment and a male character focusing more on healing,so I started figuring out how the different presentations of " Mor" would work in the story.

Me: Is there any advice you can give to your fellow writers?

Day Thinkers: If you have an idea, write it. Write it over and over until you're happy with it. It doesn't have to be perfect to be loved as you're always learning how to improve. But don't hide that piece away forever because someone somewhere will love it.

Me: Thank you! Your answers are very inspiring!
