MAYBE SO, MAYBE NOT, MAYBE SOMEDAY
One peaceful afternoon on the porch of our home,
forever together—we're done being alone.
You and I—dancing as we listen to our song,
this is the time we know where we truly belong.Laughing as we read the lines on our secret notes
with every word, there are promises to behold
as we look at our old photos, we remember
back at the moments when we still have no answers. All of the chances and life-changing decisions,
in your eyes, the hardships come to a conclusion,
all of the pain we've felt is now disappearing.
Every tear was worth it when this is the ending. You're drinking your coffee while I consume my tea,
smiling at the little ones who play wild and free.
Our winsome rings are glistening under the sun,
remembering our wedding, nothing but pleasant. All was done with a flashlight, mountain, and two words,
vows start with "I promise," and a future to earn.
Never let me down so I kissed you and screamed, "Yes!"
Just the two of us with a smile on our faces. We exchanged vows in secret under the night sky,
but days after, they want me to walk down the aisle.
I did and with my simple yet elegant dress,
at your first sight, you turned into a crying mess.A white picket fence for only the two of us.
That's a lie, it's created for the three of us,
a little girl with soft curly hair and round eyes—
stubborn little one who listens to no advice. She walks with grace and loved by everyone she meets.
A princess that she is, loud-mouthed but smiles sweet,
but the weird thing is, to coffee she's addicted—
every day I'll hide it, each day you both find it.At night we both listen to the sound of our love,
at day you always laugh at this so now shut up.
Daily we walk in the park where we had our lasts—
all perfect, from the air, the whole scene, time is fast.We established our names in the careers we chose,
an environment with no shallow fools or hoax.
Skills to perfect, a space to work and to breathe in,
and respect for privacy is another thing. This is the wish we both want to come true one day.
Our long, shared love is now in the right time and place.
After every obstacle there comes another,
even apart, we became stronger together.Imagine their faces if they could see us now.
Hand in hand, together, bound by love and our vow.
Everything, especially time, was against us—
you and I against the world with no broken trust. Finally, the "someday" we have always dreamt of
from the moment we started on falling in love
to the years we've spent apart fighting and waiting,
and in every ending comes a new beginning.
