"...a married man"

"I wasn't rushed into marriage like the media liked to speculate. I fell in love. At 22, you have a completely different idea of love that doesn't make sense to anyone but yourself and your lover." she paused and I took the slight halt as an opening.

"Love isn't supposed to make sense to anyone else."

"Bullshit. Love is supposed to make absolute sense; any other thing is an unproven quote from Pinterest or some crazy line in a movie that was probably written by some idiot who's never been in Love." She said all this in an hurry and exasperated afterward.

"How was it like with Rotimi in the beginning?"

"He was 11 years older than I was when I met him and I've always been more fascinated by older men; I've heard that it's got something to do with depraved fatherly love, but I think my dad and I had a great relationship until his passing several months ago."

"Where did you meet him?"

"At a friend's birthday party and no! I wasn't attracted to his money. My parents are well to do and asides from that known fact, I had acting gigs coming at the time, so I wasn't seeking a gold mine."

"I would have never thought that of you."

"You sure? cos everyone I know roll their eyes when i tell them I fell in love with him for him and not his money."

"Well, It's expected from a society like ours."

"Sure." she smiled and nodded. "I mean, I kind of wish I listened to them when they asked me to run."

"Who's they?"

"Society."

"It's not really advisable to listen to society you know?"

"But why? I mean, weren't they right though? didn't it all end up to be a shit show?"

"Why didn't they want you with him anyway? He was married with kids?"

She bit her lips and shook her head. "I wouldn't be here if that was the case, you know? I'm everything but shameless you know?"

"I wouldn't think you shameful to have fallen for a married man."

"Really? if he was your dad?" she cocked her brows.

"What?"

"Of course you wouldn't want that for yourself right? you probably can't imagine your dad with someone else, or your mum crying day and night because some girl decide to fall in love, but you can easily pass it off as long as you aren't concerned right? well guess what? I know what it feels like to have your dad longing for a younger woman, so I beg to differ, I think it's absolutely shameful thing to break a home, so I didn't break one. Rotimi wasn't married and neither did he have kids when I met him, he was just 32 years and we all know how young boys of 32 years seem to us now, right?"

"You are absolutely correct." I admitted with a smile. "So, if he wasn't married with kids, why didn't society want him for you?'

"I was going to quit school to travel around the world with him."

"Oh..."
