[ AN - This chapter will be fairly short, but it's an important chapter. Most from Edmonds point of view, and he complicates things, allowing a certain demon to come into the story. Leading to the main conflict in chapter 4. ]

"Humans are easily tempted. When they are poised on the edge of hellish despair, and a spider-thin thread of salvation presents itself, they will invariably grasp it. No matter the human."

~ Sebastian Michaelis

__________

All I wanted, was to surprise my fiancé. She always seemed so sad, her blue eye always showing an empty never ending ocean of sorrows. I hadn't had the chance to visit her all week.

Athena always cancelled, she was always busy or away. That I understood perfectly. So I wanted to do something special for our 5th month engaged. Since the wedding is only two months away from tomorrow.

The night was beautiful, chilly and silent as the moon shined over London.

I made my way to her manor, hoping to surprise her in her quarters. I already knew the way myself and a way to sneak into the manor as well.

However I couldn't help but to get the feeling I was being followed. No matter how many times I looked around me, I saw no one. I'm guessing it's just my nerves.

As I reached the manor, I noticed that there was no light, except from one room at the very last floor. I smiled, seeing Athena must still be awake.

I got off my horse and left it near a tree on the east side, knowing that Finny servant had the tendency to sleep outside sometimes. I don't wish to be seen.

I tried the servants entrance surprised to find it lock. My eyes narrowed and i sighed, it was always open. No matter, I can't give up now.

I was about to try another door when I heard the door open behind me. I rose an eyebrow, not seeing anyone inside the kitchen entrance, or the door. Only a small spider to be seen on the handle.

I entered the kitchen and began to make my way to Athena's room, being as silent as possible.

As I got closer to Athena's room I heard her laugh. A beautiful laugh, it was always rare to hear or even see her smile.

"Stop it!" She chuckled again only this time she seemed to have it followed by what sounded like a moan? No...I must've heard wrong, but I heard it again.

curious as to what she was doing, I got closer to the door. It was closed and locked obviously, but I could hear moaning more and more. I narrowed my eyes and tried to peep through the key whole.

It was hard to see, not to mention her room was dark, there seemed to be a candle lighting the room, making it easier to spot her bed. I couldn't quite see, but I think there was movement.
Maybe she was pleasing herself?

"Sebastian... ~" Athena moaned louder.

Sebastian? Her butler? No...
It can't be. She wouldn't do that. I scooted away from the door and leaned against the wall. A small spider falling on my shoulder. I gasped and shook it off.

Seconds later I could clearly hear a man inside with her. Yes, it was the butler.

"Say it again." I heard the butler say.

Not wanting I hear any more, I ran down the hall and exited the manor the way I came. Anger building up inside me.

How could she do something like that?? I have treated her well since the day we met! True, our marriage was arranged but I do love her. She never even has the time of day for me. Now I see why.
