Chapter 6 ~ Accepting Denial

POV - 3rd Person

It had only been a couple of days since Athena got the unexpected visits, from both Edmond and his new demon, and of course from the grim reaper Grell.

Neither of them bothering to talk to her since then. It made her wonder what they were up to.

Both of their words were stuck on the back of her mind. She and Sebastian have not been too well. In fact, Athena did everything possible to keep the demon away from her. Even if it meant giving foolish chores. She needed to think.

Grells words stood out the most. 'Be careful whom you let in your heart.'

She never put much thought into it before, and she realized, that perhaps, she did feel something for her demon. So she kept him away.

A small part of her felt guilty, for having Sebastian do so much work. And Sebastian was beginning to get annoyed, but she couldn't tell him the real reason. She feared it.

"Athena this is foolish!" Sebastian snapped, not wanting to follow another foolish order, he knew what she was doing.

"It's an order Sebastian." Athena snapped back. "You'll do as I say until our contract is over. Remember?"

Sebastian took a deep breath, trying to calm down, however he was beginning to loose his patience. "Athena, what did Grell say?"

"Both the reaper and the demon have said things against you."

Sebastian bit his lip, his dark aura was showing, and Athena could see it. However she couldn't tell him the truth. She rolled her eyes and sat on her bed. Starring at the fire across the room.

- 6 months earlier - (Flash Back)

"Is there something you're not telling me Sebastian??" She demanded walking around the gardens.

"No not at all, I was simply suggesting that -

"Did I ask for your suggestion??"

"No, but as your butler-

"You'll remain silent!" She snapped furiously.

He demon sighed and came to stop, looking at his young mistress. She had changed so much in so little time.

The smile she once worse was rarely seen, Athena was always sad, but she refused to let him know, even though Sebastian wasn't fooled, he never touched the matter.

She always wore black now, all her dresses, and gowns or anything for the matter, but that never bothered her loyal demon. She even wore an eye patch on her left eye, where she insisted she wanted her Faustian seal, Ofcourse she hid it from people, but never when the two were alone.

"You're the worst butler ever..." Athena mumbled looking away.

Sebastian chuckled and shrugged "you expect results so quickly, I am a demon, not a miracle worker."

"A bad demon. You said you'd help me find the ones who killed my parents, you saw them!! I remember! So why can't you find them!" She yelled
