The Rose and Its Thorns

The evening came to an end and night fell. Hongjoong was asleep on one of the couches with his head in Evies lap. She gently ran her hand through his hair to help ease his nerves. The strong smell of alpha pheromones slowly died down and evie signed.

    “Min, woo. Sit with him will you?” the omegas nodded and carefully switched places with her, she stood, stretched and motioned for jongho and yunho to follow her.

    The three of them walked to the door Seonghwa was behind. Evie opened the door and stared down at her son sitting on the ground with his knees to his chest, shaking violently. He tensed as the door opened and slowly looked at the three silhouettes in the doorframe. Yunho walked in and wrapped a blanket around him.

    “Th-thanks” seonghwa stuttered. “What happened? Who's on the property?”
“Well, funny story.” Yunho chuckled lightly and sat in front of him, jongho and evie joining him. “You remember that omega you wanted us to find?” Seonghwa nodded.
    “Well, turns out mom brought him to us instead.”
    “And well, you sort of had a reaction to seeing him.”
    “It wasn't a very pleasant reaction.”
    “Hence why-”
“Oh for heaven's sakes, quit beating around the bush!” Evie yelled and smacked Yunho and Jongho upside their heads. They pouted and rubbed their heads. “Sweetheart, your world came out. You attacked him, we had to lock you up until you calmed down.'' Seonghwa stared at his mother horrified.

    He hasn't let his wolf out in years, the last time he let his wolf out…..well he doesn't like to think about it. He dropped his head into his hands and quietly sobbed. The three surrounded him and tried to comfort him.  “I can't believe I lost control again…”
    “Sweetheart you couldn't have known that was going to happen. Obviously your wolf likes him or else it wouldn't have reacted the way it did.”
    “If anything it seemed eager to claim him so it could protect him.” jongho said and patted seonghwa on the shoulder. The mood changed instantly when the smell of sour blueberry filled the house and yelling was heard from upstairs.
"Evie!! Hongjoong is having a panic attack!! He won't wake up!" Evie's eyes turned gold as she stood up and bolted out the door Yunho and jongho we're quick to toss seonghwa some clothes. "Here hyung, uh .. we'll be back and let you out later!" They yelled as they run out the door. Seonghwas nose filled with the smell and he got worried.

He had to get out there….

He had to protect his omega….

Everyone was standing around hongjoong as he was dead asleep and in the middle of a panic attack. "What the hell happened" Evie asked.
"I don't know! He was having a nightmare then it spiraled into a panic attack" mingi said.
Evie looked at the worried faces of the others around her and she grabbed Jackie's hand and together they started to let out calming pheromones. The others slowly followed suit, the poor boy on the couch only started to panic more.

They were all worried, they were all concerned. They wanted to help him but they had no idea what to do. What happened next shocked all of them.

Seonghwa ran into the room, sat on the couch pulling hongjoong into his lap, he wrapped his legs around him and his arms around him tightly in an almost bone crushing hug. He closed his eyes and nuzzled into the boys neck, sending out his pheromones to hopefully help calm him down. Before too long the thrashing stopped, the whimpering silenced and hongjoong even woke up. Tears were running down his face as he looked around.

"Evie? What's going on?" He was a little scared seeing everyone look at him with a shocked expression on their face. He turned his head to look behind him only to come face to face with seonghwa. His eyes had a light red hue to them as he watched the omega, they just sat there and made eye contact with each other.

Hongjoong felt his whole world stop, given the freak out earlier in the day hongjoong never had a chance to actually look at seonghwa. His chiseled jaw, his perfect round eyes, his amazing smile. Seonghwa was smiling kindly at the boy in his arms.

"Uh ..hwa…I think you can let him go now." Wooyoung called in an almost teasing manner. Seonghwa snapped out of his trance and slowly let the boy go, but hongjoong didn't move, he stayed seated in his lap and just stared at him. Seonghwa chuckled slightly before making a pained expression.

"As much as I love this….your kind of crushing me…." Hongjoong started at him confused for a moment before his eyes widened and he jumped up. Sornghwa groaned and held him self for a few moments and laughing as the boy apologized to him profusely. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry! I didint…..I just…..uh…" realization struck and hongjoong blushed the omegas surrounded him and we're making a fuss, checking on him from the panic attack but teasing him from what happened only moments before. The alphas we're around seonghwa making a fuss over him too.

Seonghwa pushed through the alpha making his way to the omegas and cleared his throat. They parted and hongjoong and seonghwa stood in front of each other

"With what happened earlier I never got a chance to introduce myself. My name is seonghwa, on behalf of the Ateez pack house I'd like to welcome you to our home and family….and on behalf of myself I'd like to greatly apologize for my wolves behavior earlier. It was not the welcome we should have given you. I hope you can give me another chance." He picked at his fingers and looked at the ground. Hongjoong smiled and nodded.

"Alright boys…I think we've all had an exciting day. I think Jackie joong and I are going to head home." Evie said smiling softly.

Jackie, Evie and hongjoong gathered their things, got their shoes on and headed for the door. Seonghwa came up to him. "I uh…I hope I can see you again"
"Yeah…I uh…me too" hongjoong said sheepishly. Soon the three left and seonghwa closed the door as he watched them leave. He took a deep breath of fresh air before closing the door and turning to his pack mates. The omegas we're all giddy and broke out in silent teasing conversations the alphas we're watching seonghwa.

"Yunho, keep an eye on him for me? I want him protected at all costs" seonghwa spoke, his cold, harsh exterior has now returned. Yunho nodded and saluted his alpha, only to smirk at the others as seonghwa retreated to his room.

The new omega in town has changed their head alpha…so much so that he might actually be able to control his wolf…the only thing that matters to seonghwa now Is keeping him safe.
