It was close to midnight and you decided to walk. You chose to walk instead of drive, to clear your head. You found yourself walking to Sam's house because you were zoned out and that's just where your mind wanted to go.
You saw his truck parked out front so he must've been home. You pulled out the key he gave you, unlocked the door, and let yourself in. You saw him inside, sitting alone and dozing off on the couch in front on a lit fire place.
You walked over to him, each step carefully chosen, softly grabbed his cheek and kissed him.
He then fluttered his eyes open, saying, "Why hello darlin'." in his accent. You loved the way he said darlin.
"Hi Sam." You said, smiling back, looking down at his resting face.
"I was just thinkin' about you. The stars are sure bright tonight." You said, looking into his eyes.
"Are they?" He sat up and pulled you next to him. "Let's go see...in a minute." He hugged you and you both just sat there, interlinked. You could tell he was still half asleep. He rested his head in the crook of your neck. You could feel his breathing down your neck.
He yawned and the two of you were enjoying the comforting silence and the crackling of the fire, when all of a sudden you could feel him getting heavier..and heavier.. until you could tell he was falling back asleep. "Don't fall asleep." You said with a grin. He suddenly jerked and shot up to you calling him out.
"I wasn't." He said, now sitting up and stretching his arms up.
"You're lying right through your teeth." You grinned and kissed his cheek, then stood up.
"Oh, get that shit eating grin off your face." He said laughing. You lended a hand out do he could stand up and you led him out to the back porch to show how bright the stars were tonight. You grabbed a blanket since it's chilly outside.
He sat down on a step and you leaned on his shoulder. He was warmer than you and tensed a little at your cold skin. This made you laugh.
"Am I cold?" You said with a grin.
"Very."
The two of you snuggled into each other, looking up at the wonderful sight of stars, perfectly placed and planted in the galaxy.

The night went on, you were drifting off and so was Sam. You leaned back up and stretched your arms above your head. "Ready to go inside?" you spoke, mid stretch.

"Been ready." Sam said with a smirk and then a yawn.

"oh whatever, at least you weren't alone tonight." You winked.

You helped him up and kissed his cheek. "let's head inside, I'm exhausted."

"Thank you for joining me tonight Darlin'." He kissed you.

"Of course." You smile and kiss him back.
