When we arrived at the place, there were a lot of people inside. Most of them appeared to be some sort of trainers or students. I felt that some of them eyed me. Or most of them. The line wasn't as big as I would've expected it to be as it looked to be more bigger.

"Well, it looks like it's going to be a while, Rika."
Lucario looked at me for a second. "Alright then, if you're gonna go submit the application, i'll be here." She pondered for a second about something. I ignored her and went to the application booth. The person behind it was quite old, probably a Gym leader. "Name, please." She said, looking straight into my eyes. "Joshua Hamada," I said subtly. That caught everyone's attention. They all turned their heads towards me, whispering all over. I felt slightly nervous. "You wanna submit your application or-"

"Yep!" I yelped out. I took the application and a pen to sign my name.

Once the form was done, I handed it over to her. Her fingers quickly ran across the paper, checking if I submitted the application correctly. Once done, she gave me a paper with information.

I signed it as my last name. I glanced at the other applicants who were also waiting. They stared at me, whispering quietly.

And this is why I didn't like having friends here, I thought to myself.
Right after that, the person behind the counter spoke to the trainers standing nearby, giving them instructions. I stood there patiently as I waited until they finished. When I realised that my turn was coming up, I approached them, smiling slightly. "Hamada, correct?" I nodded. She continued talking. "We have many types available for your selection."

I nodded. "Which one do you recommend?"
"Ah, well. Let us check your pokemon first."
I followed her to the corner as she checked every pokemon that I have currently.
"...So you only have a Lucario and an Eevee, but no starter?" She seemed disappointed.
"My other pokemon left before I could really train with them," I explained. She sighed.
"Oh well. You should take a look at the other pokemon we have available."

She led me towards the back of the room. We entered a big room where about 3 Pokemon were all lined up inside. "This is all we have for your kind of skill level, but you might like them." The pokemon right in front of me was a Charizard, A Pigeot, and a Corviknight. They looked at me curiously as I looked at them. After a minute or passed, they seemed to have no further interest. Any kind of request of affection wasn't by in any means, possible, as they either growled, ignored, or just slightly attacked me. Luckily, the lady stopped their little protest, but I wasn't surprised they did that. I was rather imfamous for "speaking the pokemon tongue," for some reason.
"Huh. I feel like I kind of expected that," I said.
She looked at me and then signed.
"Look, in order to stay on the team, you know you'll need to find a Pokemon that can fly. And those three are already pretty powerful already and can fight around the level you're at, currently."
"There's no point. If they're not interested in me, I can find a flying pokemon, or just not use one for now." She shook her head. "I am sorry, Mr.Hamada, but I must insist for your safety. I'm sure you understand. I'll let you select which one you want."

"Thank you, but I have to decline. I would rather not waste my time, and yours. The pokemon you have don't like me. I can see it." They looked away from me, already annoyed at my presense. I didn't know whether that was a good thing or not.
"Fine. Then all I can do for you is say good luck." I nodded silently. "Thank you anyway. Have a nice day." I walked off from her, and it sounded like they were having a ball. I balled my hands slightly just from their enjoyment.
"...I fucking knew it."

A few minutes ago, I regrouped with Lucario. She hugged me, sighing. "At least it worked out."
"Well, not in the way you think."
"What do you mean?" She tilted her head.
"I wasn't able to get a flying-type."
She looked at me surprised. "Oh. So... how are you going to get a flying type?" I looked at her, shrugging.
"I have no idea, but i'll get through it."
She tried to smile, but I knew she was faking it.
"Attention all trainers and students who signed up for the recruitment for Team Traveller, we have decided to recruit only a few of you here. Please come up when your name has been called.
